Jammin 94.1 Stunting? 94.1 KTFM?

Jocks are off the air with promos running "Jammin 94.1 goes under 12 noon Sunday".

A complete format flip or a tweak?

My guess it's a tweak with the Jammin 94.1 being called the new KTFM. As for the music- less 70's and more 80's & 90's including Old School Hip Hop. Hopefully a new morning show. Hot Henrietta still sounds great but Rick Da Stick needs to go.

my prediction: sunday at noon, Jammin 94.1 will go under.......construction. Didn't KTFM use that same stunt when they morphed from Hot 103 to KTFM 102.7?

I just hope they don't turn into a Movin' type format or go back to spanish.
I do like the sound of more 80s and 90s music though. Old school hip hop would be cool too, I can't stand any of the new hip hop.

As a listener, if the music in the new format is tolerable to me, I hope the station goes announcerless. I'm not a fan of the work of any of the current on-air talent there and I have embraced the "Jack" philosophy of making the music the focal point.

As a fan of the industry who went to college with a lot of folks who work or worked on the air in other markets, I sympathize with the loss of on-air jobs.

I guess we'll know next week.

So are they going to start sounding like Jammin 105.9? They should of done that sooner, I think that format would work better in SA than Austin.

definently...especially the 90s music, doesn't remind me at all of austin. 90s alternative reminds me of austin thanks to 101x back when I could hear the damn station in SA.

However, does anyone think 94.1 will become an urban ac, or at least lean to that format, after the dissapperance of KSJL?

Maybe they're going to go to an automated format like jack-fm. Its always cheaper to have a couple of technogeeks run the computerized jukebox than to keep a bunch DJs on the payroll. Remember, customer satisfaction doesn't matter anymore, only maximizing shareholder value does. Lets just hope that they keep the 80s-90s format. We can't expect much living in the minimum wage capital of Texas.

I was thinking the samething. However, being that Jammin is a Top 10 station. I don't see a major swing in that direction. In my opinion, it's a rebranding stunt with slight change in music.

This post seemed to go unnoticed but you're absolutely right. Sunday is APRIL FOOL's DAY after all.

;D

People keep asking me if I think they will flip to CHR. Lets hope not. I doubt it but you never know. I dont know about you, but having 4 stations playing Runaway Love or other songs would just kill the market more than its already being killed.

Some die hards are STILL hoping and wishing they will flip back to the old KTFM prior to the KBBT asskicking. In my eyes that would be such a bad idea. Even more of a bad idea to get old KTFM jocks. Especially the non talented, or the played out jocks they used to have. You got to admit, some of those jocks are just "tired".

Jammin 94.1 goes under 12 noon Sunday

At noon today I'm guessing the announcement will be somewhere along the lines-

Jammin 94.1 is under construction building you a better radio station...blah blah blah

I did a domain search on domains containing "ktfm." There aren't any new ones, so if a new identity is forthcoming, it won't contain KTFM.

CBS still owns ktfm.com... strange that they didn't sell it to BMP when they sold the KTFM call letters.

The station is playing snippets of listener testimonials. Considering that they are all from listeners who are worried that their favorite station is going away, I doubt that "going under" signals a major format change.

You're good. That's almost exactly what it said!

They're taking listener input for the next few weeks at 340-1070 as they "build a better radio station."

I made the same prediction as well. I made an aircheck of the "under construction" bit. Where/how do you post it online....if it's worth posting?

Honestly, I don't think it's worth posting. All that hype just to say "we're under construction." What crock of [EDIT]
