JAMN 94.5's RATINGS DECLINING

I had a thought with all the talk of poor ratings maybe this could happen over on the Atlanta board wild 95.7 which is a party type station chr top40 etc just flipped formats and is going alt, Could this work here?? we know waaf is rock mostly and radio 92.9 is a mix of stuff, I'm not saying I would prefer it but might be a option if hot eats away of jamn listeners enough or also an option for 101.7 oh yea they tried that oppz!!

I think this is what it is typically:

Saturday

12-7am - Maverick
7-10am - Top 30 w/ Ramiro
10-4pm - Maverick
4-8pm - Bobby Blaze
8pm-12 Mixes

Sunday

12-3 Mixes
3-7 Maverick
7-8 Community Access
8-11 Maverick
11-4 Bobby Blaze
4-8 DJ Pupdawg
8-10 Clinton Sparks
10-12 Launch Pad.

I hear more "urban" in mixes and sometimes night... Late nights are more mainstream Top40 although JAM'N did not come on air originally as a hip hop station... Their problem is rotation... And losing show mixers and their morning show. The market is over crowded with the same music which makes it harder for JAM'N to keep up with... And to note the voice guy was once great for JAM'N and they also had great liners years ago... I think they would benefit from giving their tired Imaging a fresh new start and either keep their Rhythmic playlist and add more Mainstream to it... Or go Urban.. Either way Rhythmic CHR isn't as hot as it was... hip hop is dead... So i think they will continue to just let things go the way they are. Its a common CC decision to just let their non #1s slide. I call these the Waning days of 94.5.... Now where is my WZOU?

Where is my WCOZ? ;D

Late nights are Premium choice CHR or Rhythmic CHR, hence the reason why sometimes Taylor Swift is played.

But yes, the market is over-crowded and I think most people are just fed up with JAM'N. Years ago they could get away with a 100 song playlist... not anymore.

I must say though i do like JAM'Ns playlist speed at +4... No other station up tempos their music like them. Poor jamn.. :(

If Jamn were to just drop the crossover tracks and play just Hip Hop & R/b like their sister station WWPR in NY they would be the cool kid on the block again.. Everyone want's that same piece of the pie, but doesn't want to try the other flavors..

he will bring Jammin 94.5 to another level, and back on top. He has a lot of Energy and would be great to be on either "Jamn 94.5" or even "KISS 108"
I hope this is true

If Jamn 94.5 would like to stop the bleeding on ratings, it needs to fire its PD and Music Director. This include Dj Pup Dawg. The station is just boring and the lack of creativity n small playlist is just not longer appealing. They are not targeting their demo correctly. Clear Channel just sucks. In my opinion, Chubby chub should be promoted as music director.

WJMN should really be looking at something different for 94.5 that can target another demographic in time for the summer and fall ratings.

All this JAMN bashing is kind of funny. They've been a successful station for 20 years and a recent dip in the ratings means they should just blow the station up? Talk about hitting the panic button too soon.

It's amusing that Hot 96.9 gets so much love on this board, and Jamn so much dislike, but Hot is basically just a retro JAMN station, playing all music that Jamn once did, with old Jamn DJs, the old Jamn morning show etc etc. Jamn has been getting bashed for years for not being "urban" enough, but Hot plays Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5 and they are suddenly the cool kid on the block? Haha...its kind of funny.

As the old adage goes, for every problem there is a solution which is obvious, simple, and wrong.

TSB
