Jay Leno Leaving The Tonight Show Next Season???

Latest rumor is NBC "grooming" Howard Stern to take over Late Night. Hiring him to do AGT was to show he could be toned down for TV.

Does this mean the return of the Lesbian Dating Game and high dollar strippers to national TV?

Sure do miss Sterns syndicated show circa 1990. Cheaply produced and funny.

Add to the fact that Stern hates Leno just adds fuel to the fire. Howard's mentioned a few times over the last year that he doesn't plan renewing with SiriusXM (he has an ongoing lawsuit against them), so this could be the next career move for him, besides doing the AGT gig.

At this point for NBC, they need all the change and good luck they could get.

Maybe Stern could do two shows for NBC. Put a safe show on NBC and a raunchy late or weekly show on Bravo or SciFi. Maybe they could use stern to spice up MSNBC?

I could see Bravo, or he could go back to E!.

NBC Universial owns E!?

I don't think I've watched E since they had that replay of Stern's radio show.

Yep...E! came as part of the merger with Comcast.

The thing is...Howard Stern doesn't work for free. In fact, look at his work schedule on SXM, he's barely live in the studio. Unless NBC is going to be ok with Late Night being on two nights a week, Howard is not taking over Late Night and if he does, NBC will not be willing to pay him what it takes to get him working 5 nights a week.
NBC needs someone young and cheap who can grow under the Late Night banner.
