Jay Severin Can Dish It Out But Cannot Take It !

Face it! Jay Severin is a TOTAL FRAUD. He lies about his name. He lies about not being married, He lies about having children and until he moved to Massachusetts he even lied about from where his show originated. Today, he even lets you think he does his show from TKK when in fact he does it out of his house.

And you rely on someone like that who is a consumate liar to tell you even what time of day it is.

You need a better role model.

I don't see anyone saying he can take it. But it's funny to listen to him dish it out. That is why people listen to his radio show -- to be entertained along with hearing a discussion. What do you expect him to say? "I sent an e-mail to my friend Emily Rooney and the wonderful well-researched journalists at my favorite paper, the Boston Globe, wrote a fabulous article about how I'm such a courageous person" ???

clarification: I did not call Jane hateful; someone else up the thread may have suggested it and I
said in my own case I didn't want to be hateful...

>>He lies about not being married

True though after he returned to WTKK with the aft show he did some kind of puff piece/profile
and did admit it, I believe, though I don't know if he mentions it on air (as Howie does, etc.,
with bits about his personal life)

And yes,
>>until he moved to Massachusetts he even lied about from where his show originated.

He pledged to move to the Boston area (the McMansion in Manchester-By-The-Money) with his
return to afternoons on WTKK.

>>Raccoon didn't call anyone hateful, he pointed up what he saw as (I hope I'm not putting words in his mouth) a hypocritical argument.

THANK you.

Dude....try Decafe! ::) Your "obsession" about Jimmy Severino is frightening. STOP LISTENING ;)

The only thing that is "frightening" is that Severin can dish it out but cannot not take it in return. That fact exists whether I listen or not or drink "decalf" which I do. Sort of like ... does a tree that falls in the woods make a sound if there is no one there to hear it...dude.

Casablanca, slow down ;D

First of all, he admits doing the show from home. Sort of. If you listen, he says he is broadcasting from "Cape Ann" which, last time I checked, is no where near the WTKK studios.

Do you know for a fact that he's married? Last time I saw him in person, he was not wearing a wedding ring (which is not necessarily indicative, since neither does my old man). Wasn't it the NY Times who published his supposed wedding announcement? If so, that only proves he was married back then.

It's a total schtick, but what do you expect in radio? If he is married with a child (or children) then I agree with you that it's a disgrace to talk the way he does, but he puts on an entertaining show to say the least.

I respect Howie for talking about his family on the air. Severin probably wants to keep his family out of the public eye, for which I can't blame him.

[I agree with BLUESDUDE, this obsession is unhealthy. You're like a stalker. This sounds personal. Why do you hate him so much?

reports are that Severino is married.

Casablanca has gone off on Carr, Jason Wolfe, Judy Kahn and others at WRKO, his giving Severin equal time is his First Amendment right. Just because people point out bad radio doesn't make them obsessed with the awful host. Obsessed with radio, most likely, but not obsessed with a bad version of radio.

Obsession with changing radio is a good thing. Responding to this post means you are obsessive/compulsive so look in the mirror.

Go Casablanca!
Go Red Sox

This posting is a Howie Carr free zone. Howie is a pioneer - let's hope that
Todd Feinburg and Jay Severin follow Howie's path and sue their respective stations so we don't have to hear them either!

Can we get off this whole thing with Severin's name. He, like roughly 70 percent of people in broadcasting, uses a professional name. The fact that so many so-called and aspiring radio professionals harp on this point is frankly dumbfounding, given how commom the practice is.

Did you know that Natalie Jacobson, the standard-bearer for television journalists in Boston used a professional name. Her real name was Salatich. Her former husband and co-anchors actual name was Chester Kukiewicz. Of course, you know him as Chet Curtis.

Dick Albert, Harvey Leonard, Jack Williams...professional names. (Here's a little hint. When a person's on-air name includes two first names, 99 times out of 100, you can bet it's not their given name)

There are dozens of examples in other markets. In New York City, the dean of television broadcasters, Bill Beutel, modified the pronounciation of his given name.

In Hartford, WTIC-AM's Ray Dunaway and Arnold Dean both use professional names. Same goes for former WTIC and WTKK personality Bruce Stevens (Again, two first names, a dead giveaway)

Broadcast professionals use different names because a) it gives them some modicrum of privacy from obsessive fans and nutjobs who may take what's said on a radio show or a news program a bit too seriously and b) gives them an opportunity to create an on-air persona, character that is distinctly different from who they are off-the-air. It also can help with marketing, especially when it comes to lengthy ethnic names that can sometimes be hard to pronounce or spell.

You don't like what Severin says? Fine. Don't like his voice? Great. Don't like his politics? God bless you. But stop implying that Severin's use of an on-air name is some "fraud." Sheesh.
