Jay Severin Returning To Boston

the "fraud" was beating Howie Carr when he left and was the only thing with ratings on the entire station. questions should be what took them so long.

They were probably waiting for Severin's syndication to crap out before they moved him.

If RKO was at a 3.3 with Severin not up against Howie, by November, they'll be lucky to be above a three share.

But they must have been desperate to buy out his national deal. I dont know what he was making but given the state of Westwood One for them to even entertain the idea of allowing Greater Media to buy out the contract means his syndication was doing nothing. IF he were a hot property they wouldn't have let him go, period.

It sounded like Graham was on 3-7 pm yesterday (does he get shifted to 7 pm, or cut? prob the former).
Instead of Severino at 7, there was Laura Ingraham, then 10 p-1 a was a 12-hour delayed broadcast
(radio rewind) of Barnicle, then Eagan and Braude (prefer the latter...seem to work well together and good
to hear local talk, even if delayed, in that slot)

so it looks like Severino is resting up before his debut on 10/9...more time off, 7 yr deal--what is he,
Manny Ramirez?...it's said he's planning to move to the North Shore, but maybe that means he's
staying where he is--isn't Sag Harbor on the North Shore of Long Island?

Graham was hired when GM didn't know for sure if Severin would be coming back or not, to have SOMEONE
on aft drive. He was kept on and I'm not sure what kind of ratings he got, once Jay started his 7-10 pm
show in Jan. Not sure how long he will stay on now...

Severin claims to be of Dutch ancestry but J. Severino is more likely. Wonder if Jay Severin [o] will be moving his wife and kids from the Sag Harbor to "the North Shore" . Maybe he will buy Brad Blights [Bleidt's] plush and overly ostentatious manse in the village of Polopony.

They gave him a 7 year contract? they are that confident that the station will retain that format with that line up for 7 more years?.

Libertarian

Jay Severin is a straight white guy from the burbs, not of any religious minority, and not a veteran of any military force that I know of, who whines and moans about how unfair the world is. Cry me a river.

Severin claims to be a "Libertarian". However the Libertarians I know are outraged by his claim to be one of them. They find his viewpoints to be extreme and dislike him associating his flamatory ideas with them.

is poughkeepsie, ny considererd a suburb or x-suburb?

there are a lot of libertarians in sag harbor. none of them believe in or support big governemt, especially the one that collects corporate and capital gains taxes.

>>J. Severino is more likely.

James Thompson Severino, paisano...maybe he COULD buy Bleidt's house in Manchester-by-the-Money who knows.

The Manny Ramirez of talk...big contract, but how will 'TKK feel about 5 years or so into the deal? But who knows, maybe they'll find him to be successful. Will they still be talk come 2013? Possibly. With a similar
lineup to what they have now? Less likely but who knows.

Libertarians believe in low taxes and small government. So do a lot of people. That doesn't make one a libertarian. Libertarians also do not believe in government infringing on our privacy, tapping phones, entangling with other countries in 'nation-building' that costs the taxpayers billions of dollars. They do not believe in ammendments to the constitution on bedroom issues. And when there are elections, Libertarians vote for the Libertarian candidate. Not Bush or the Republicans.

Severin is a republican. He calls himself a libertarian becasue it sounds sexier than republican. It also allows him to give the impression that he is an independent like Bill Oreilly tries to calim he is an independent

Ding Ding Ding!!!!! We have a winner!

You've summarized Severin perfectly.

by the way in the new NERW, Fybush says Westwood one had _cancelled_ Jay's syndie show, "thus freeing him
to return to Boston". Cancelled...yes, factors like sports pre-emptions, less interest in political talk in the evening, and competition from Savage, etc., may have been why W1 pulled the plug, or perhaps Jay just didn't click out there in Philly, St. Louis, Tampa, Wash DC, etc....but the fact remains:
while WTKK hails him as a returning hero, his show _flopped_ nationwide. And if it works here in Boston,
then hey, great...Perhaps in a different time slot (not sure when) the national show may have built an audience...and oh,
one MORE reason could be that W1/CBS is cost-cutting. They lost a whole bunch of money after Howard left
and DL Roth bombed...

Jay may spin this as "hey, I just wanted to return to Boston" but the fact remains that the show did not
fly nationwide (though admittedly it might have picked up more steam had they given it more than 8 months...)

Is it confirmed that Michael Graham is moving to the 7-10 slot?

Severin has made it clear several times that he doesn't consider himself a true Libertarian, but more of a "libertine" of sorts.

VERY glad to hear that Severin is returning. He was a great alternative to Howie. There's room here for both of them.

What's this about him moving to Massachusetts, though? I know he plays the persona of a swaggering single guy on the air, but didn't I read in Talkers or someplace that he has a family on Long Island?
