Jeff Mazzei (WCBS-FM) out

That is really sad news.

I think he was also quite involved in the theme weekends and the top 500 countdown, maybe even the A to Z. What a shame.

According to WCBS..November 1983 is still listed on his link for this Sunday night??

If he is indeed gone, that would be a huge loss to this station and the Sunday night countdowns.

On the airstaff list page, Jeff is not there and no one has the weekday midnight - 6am slot yet.

I met Jeff back in 1978 when he was the Music Director at WNEW-AM when they and WNEW-FM were at 565 Fifth Avenue.

Jeff left WNEW along with Bill St. James in June of 1980 to go to WYNY were he became MD. In 1985 Jeff became MD at CBS-FM.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy

Jeff Mazzei will be missed. I also miss hearing Bobby Jay on CBSFM too. And he was great doing the top 20's too. Nothing against Ron Parker who sounds good on 101 but I wish they would bring Bobby Jay back for weeknights 7-11pm and sunday nite for the top 20. I don't even see Bobby listed on Sirius website for Soultown 53 anymore, Is he still with Sirius?

I guess Bobby is with Sirius, but I don't see him coming back to CBS-FM to do the countdown shows.

This is indeed sad news :(Jeff was a true asset to the station as far as I'm concerned. His enthusiastic attitude was infecious especially during the Top 20 Countdown :D. This in a great loss to the station and to us the listeners. But the million dollar question is what direction is WCBSFM heading in as far as the playlist goes ???. I would not mind one bit if they added more 50's and early 60's in the raotation and bid some if not most of the 80's farewell. I know that this topic has been discussed before but one can dream.

I would not really miss the 80s, even though demographically I should like it the most. However a sprinkling of 80s doesn't bother me too much. I really doubt they will take 80s away, in fact I think 90s will show up within 5 years if they stick with Oldies.

More depth overall, continued specials, and more 50s and early 60s would make me most happy.

So parallel universes do indeed exist! ;D In this universe though, advertisers seek out demographics younger than those who'd be interested in music from before 1965.

This is just the pregame show. This is just step one to 24 hour voicetracking on all CBS O & O classic hits stations to save money. What are you groupies going to do when you have no live body to call and annoy at the radio station anymore? I don't think the automation system will take your calls.

DCRTV.com says Joe Causi would be the new overnight tape jock.

Good to here from you old friend haven't heard any negative posts from you regarding WCBS-FM, to tell you the truth the message board just doesn't seem the same without your constant negative comments on WCBS-FM. As far as what are us groupies going to do when we have no live body behind the mic to annoy we'll call you because you seem to have an answers for everything, who needs D.J's when we have you.

WCBS-FM were all the good songs have gone, your home for the holidays.
