I used to volunteer/intern at WFDD, mostly with Jeff. And I will agree that prior to going in, I had listened to him make a few more mistakes than was pleasing to my ear. But after a few weeks, I started to understand the breadth of his responsibility. He was the only full-time news employee, in addition to being the Morning Edition host (most NPR member stations would never have only 1 employee doing both), so he regularly put in 12-hour days (that started at 4:30am). He did the research, interviews, editing, writing, and production for most of the local news cut-ins, and if he didn't voice it, whoever did was probably using his stuff. I guess because he was the youngest around there and everyone assumed he had the energy, anything extra tended to fall on his plate. So don't be too hard on him. Glad to hear he's moving up to WUNC!
