JELLI IN VEGAS

Still playing music now over the internet. Funny thing is that radio insight said that the format would shift to jelli once the call letters changed, well they did and it's still the vibe and they're still announcing their "old" call letters every hour. I honestly hope this station doesn't change, it sounds pretty good. Also yes.com shows they stopped playing dance music at 1:30-something today.

yes.com still matches up with the stream, which is what I assume is going out over the air. The 2 domains are still showing the default page.

All Access just reported that both stations will flip later this afternoon (6/29).

Yeah I saw that headline pop up on my twitter account, but when I click on the click for that story, I see that story no longer exists...weird

www.jelli.com/vegas seems like the stations are already active. 96.7 is very similar to the old 94.5 The Vibe. Same imaging voice and everything, they even use the "pure energy" slogan on some sweepers.

But it's dance top 40 so almost the same sound as KVBE, just on a new frequency.

As of 11:30, 94.5 The Vibe is no more. The last song was Madonna - 4 Minutes

It just baffles me why Jelli didn't go with their BPM format on 94.5 and rock on 96.7
However, looking at their BPM playlist, it looks like it's from 2008 with their #1 song Ting Tings - Shut Up & Let Me Go. That song was only on the dance charts for a few weeks in the summer of 2008.

New product, gotta land it somewhere new. It's like putting the Jelli dance format back on 87.7 in NYC

Tuned it in, just to check it out... Two stations with a guy who sounds like the announcer on the weather channel. "we've got a rocket, requested by Shannon 82". You switch back and forth and hear the same guy on both stations... The idea is to vote in the music you like and dump (trash other songs that other people wanted to hear). Yeah, you get your moment of fame by hearing your name or unusual moniker on the air. Sounds like something I'd want to hear round the clock...
Also, if it is a new set of stations, just came on the air -- one rock format 94.5 FM and one dance format at 96.7 FM (and 96.7 is simulcasted on 100.1 FM) how did all the requests come in? Seems like a "staged" event or perhaps it is not even live and local, but canned production. So, there is no overhead with any local talent, but re-hashed from other similiar formatted JELLI stations across the U.S.? The signals for both stations are very weak as you drive around. I doubt that the other live, local formatted stations will have anything to worry about.

You obviously didn't log on to the website or use the app. It's not canned and I do think it's the future of radio which is dying from better technology. People like to feel in control. Preprogrammed radio is stale and more canned than Jelli. Especially when you have the same DJs on 10 different Clear Channel Top 40 stations all at the same timeslot.

Do you predict this will attract a larger audience than any of the preprogammed Top 40 stations in LV? Even with the severe signal limitations?

Both of these signals seem to suffer from considerable booster to main interference (main at Cabin canyon site Mesquite). I'm sure they're using the Harris Syncrocast system to synchronize these (this minimizes booster interference). Also, they're just a little too far away...just a few miles would likely have made a big difference. Its interesting to consider that the 4th station that was suppose to go up at the Cabin Canyon site in mesquite threw in the towel and moved back to St. George (the 95.9 signal). The stations coming in from Dolan Springs, AZ benefit from more terrain shielding blocking their main signal more effectively. Some natural blockage always works much better for a booster to be more effective. Bottom line....I don't think either of these stations will do all that great ratings wise with their current signal configuration.

I remember in 2009 before the booster went on the air, 94.5 The Vibe was inaudible in the Las Vegas valley. Could only barely hear it on the Strip.

So how clear are the signals from 94.5 & 96.7 in Vegas and in Henderson?
Are they both about equal in signal strength, or is 96.7 a little stronger
since theres no translator on a neighboring channel.

Last time I was there in 2008, 94.5 was very weak in the NW part of the valley,
ok but still kinda weak on the Northeast side, it didn't come in at all near the airport,
and in Henderson it was barely listenable thru static.

I haven't gotten to listen to 94.5 or 96.7 in person since they added the booster,
I guess it wasn't too much improvement (radio-locator still lists Henderson in the fringe
and the booster is 20 miles NE of the LV strip)

I personally think they could easily re-locate to the same tower as KVEG-97.5 or KRRN-92.7
near Moapa (94.5's licensed city) and that'd be some great improvement all around for everyone.
As long as they can throw a city-grade signal to their licensed city moving it shouldn't really be a problem I would think...

Funny how 97.5 is licensed to Mesquite but serves Las Vegas from Moapa,
while 94.5 licensed to the Moapa area wants to serve Las Vegas but mostly serves Mesquite. :p

I don't believe second adjacen't would be a problem as far as
moving to the 97.5 or 92.7 or even the 104.7 KJUL tower near Moapa.

I don't think 96.7 couldn't cause interference to 96.3 in Las Vegas and wouldn't affect 97.1 either.
same goes for 94.5 vs 94.1.

In my area both 93.3 WTPT and 93.7 WFBC (each Class C) cover the entire upstate of SC and are only about 20 miles apart.
And both are recievable from each other's transmitter location.

( EDIT: I see it was double posted, I had a problem with my internet and didn't see the previous post go thru :-[ )
