Jen is done

Today on FB it's "all i can say is right or wrong, good or bad, THIS is exactly as it should be. honor that-
i know it is true. God has a plan."

Here's the whole quote from Facebook......

i know many people are wondering , concerned and confused, as to what is happening with me and or the radio job-. all i can say is right or wrong, good or bad, THIS is exactly as it should be. honor that-
i know it is true. God has a plan.

You really don't give MW very much credit if you think being a fill-in local radio talk show host is "the best gig he ever had" do you?

Yeah, I know, it's a toss-up between hosting a talk show on WBZ or doing trivia at O'Donnell's Pub. Quite a tough choice there.

I swear this stuff writes itself.

Kinda reminisent of folklore stories of DJ's show up late for the morning shift, getting locked out of the studio or falling asleep and the record ends and grinds against the label on air until they wake up.

As for God having a plan - if God handed me an opportunity to host one of the only local all night shows still in existence on a legendary station with the best equipment, resources, staffing and signal imaginable - I would get myself to work on time everyday!

hats of to Morgan. I woke up at at 3am and he had a good show going. Probably he has just started doing show prep everyday as a hedge.

That is one of Morgan's strengths. He is incredibly resourceful. I have heard him pull many rabbits out of his hat at the very last minute over the years, especially when Steve would give him those sick calls with less than an hour's notice.

No matter what side of the fence you are on concerning Ms. Brien one can not deny this venture hasn't gone particularly well thus far. I find it hilarious that on one of her first official shows Jen devoted almost her entire opening monologue to the fact that she doesn't take any days off.... "Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's .... you name it, you'll hear me on working those nights.... just wait and see... YUP."

At this point it might be best for all concerned if they just give the gig to Morgan and be done with it. My question is, would he do the trivia game 5 nights a week? Maybe it would be best to do it every other night, or even Fridays only, to avoid burnout.

Thanks for verbatim quote...........that clears everything up ? I think we got the gist from Cap-n-Spackle's entry. With the repeated absences and tardiness from work it doesn't take a blood hound to smell that there is something rotten in BZ overnight.

Maybe she was trying to convince herself she would take no days off.

If Morgan had the show full time he would need to branch out a bit more and, yes, trivia would need to become a weekly thing. More than that it would get old. Since Morgan has had more air time I find I enjoy him a lot more and I think he has diversified the show more already.

If you don't understand the synergy between White's "day job" and the long-time 'BZ gig, well, I guess either you have intentionally decided not to understand or are the only person in the world who doesn't get it.

More valuable insight...........For someone who has no interest in Jen Brien, you certainly have been paying rapt attention to all of the threads about her.

about as much insite as the rest of the posts on this thread ....yawn.....(and stretch) again. "Rapt attention"....that's a good one.
LOL!

or other people involved wanted the overnight gig full time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everybody in broadcasting wants a full-time job in broadcasting. It's what they are about and to get a gig on a preeminent station-- even overnights-- is still big.

Yes it's a grind --5 hrs--- but they aren't treating talent the way they did Bob and Brudnoy (6 days!). Steve had mentioned it got down to him and someone else the first time he was hired. IDK who that was? There were no months of auditions. They just picked a guy. What's so hard about that? The entire process this last year was a joke.

* I still haven't listened to her show yet. Though I did hear the phrase "pigs in bathrooms" while hitting some presets.

Nice to know that GOD has time to listen to the radio.....

look, I'm not talking about the long term gig, I'm talking about what he's been doing, which has been filling in for the primary hosts - which is what YOU said is the best gig he's ever had. Maybe YOU'RE the one who's NOT getting it, condescending ass!

What more do you need for proof? So I guess Dan Rea doing an extra hour, Morgan White being called at the last minute and showing up at 1 a.m. to fill in for her and Bradley Jay doing 2, 7-hour shifts doesn't confirm the fact that she is absent without notice. Unreal.

By the way, Morgan is on again, Tuesday morning, 10/2. This charade cannot go on much longer. That's 9 days off in a little more than 3 months. I am sure this is what Peter Casey planned when he made this brilliant hire. Let's hire a new host who is never here. Brilliant I say, absolutely brilliant.

I took my wife, at her request, to our least favorite restaurant. The parking was difficult, the food dreadful, and the service atrocious. It was our third visit in the last week. When we got home, the following conversation ensued……

Me: “Why do you insist on going to this terrible restaurant all the time. There must be at least 35 or 40 others to choose from in the area? “

She: “But that one used to be great. Then, a couple of months ago, it changed.

Me: But lots of folks still eat there.

She: But those of us who’ve been aggrieved should take priority over those people who think everything is OK.!

Me: Why?

She: What you don’t understand is that this change is a personal affront to me and my friends! So, me and my friends have been eating there three or four times a week and then posting really uncomplimentary reviews on RestaurantCritic.com. We figure that that will convince the owner to reprimand the head chef, fire the line cook, and promote the garde-manger, who we all personally like.”

Me: “But what gets chefs and cooks fired is when business goes into the dumper, not folks continuing to line up and pay 50 bucks a plate just so they can bitch about it.”

She: “True. But by posting on RestaurantCritic.com, everyone thinks that I know lots about the restaurant business and am an honest-to-god connoisseur of fine cuisine. Plus, did I tell you I think of this change as a personal insult. I think it’s important for people to know that?

Me: Yes, but are you sure the garde-manger has the skill set to be a top line cook?

She: Well, he does make a dynamite chicken chopped salad. I could eat that 5 days a week!

Me: Well, good luck.

She: Thanks. And let’s be sure to drop by there tomorrow, if only to see what’s on the specials board.

Me: Sure. But remember, you have to finish that article you’re writing on self-absorption’s role in obsessive behavior.

She: I guess those meals classify as a business expense.

One last time: White has been doing that fill-in work for decades. He has been doing his traveling trivia show for as long or longer. Name recognition is important for performers. The only reason anyone outside of his immediate family (like you) and a few bar stool denizens know who he is is because of the WBZ gig. The jobs are mutually supporting, and the WBZ gig probably pays more on a pro-rata basis.

That woman, I'll think of her name some time, has a nose for more than news and talk.....
