"Jeopardy" & "Wheel of Fortune" are looking for new homes.

I believe this has already about to happen to stations in Baltimore, Cleveland, Phoenix, Cincinnati, Tampa Bay, & in Tulsa, OK-as E.W. Scripps plans to phase out both game shows for its syndicated package to produced by Scripps & to distributed by WBTV through its Telepictures subsibidary. Some stations have already found new homes; "Jeopardy" & "Wheel" will be going to these stations from Scripps:

Phoenix-KPNX (NBC) from KNXV (ABC)
Cleveland-WOIO (CBS) from WEWS (ABC)
Baltimore-WBFF (FOX), from WMAR (ABC)
Cincinnati-WXIX (FOX), from WCPO (ABC)
Tampa Bay WTSP (CBS),from WFTS (ABC)
Tulsa, OK-KTUL (ABC), from KJRH (NBC)

Four other television stations still carrying "Jeopardy" & "Wheel" that are owned by Scripps will carry "The List", & "Let's Ask America" after their current deals with both SONY-Owned & Produced, & CBS-Disributed game shows runs out in 1-2 years; ABC's KMGH (Denver) & KERO-TV (Bakersfield, CA); & NBC's KSHB (Kansas City) & WPTV (West Palm Beach, Fla.)

Who will pick them up then?

Re: "Jeopardy" & "Wheel of Fortune" are looking for new homes.

FOX4KC gets Wheel and also Hearst Stations off TWC like TWCKC so have to find another provider for like KMBC/KCWE.
Also KSHB adding back KC Live with a different name.

Re: "Jeopardy" & "Wheel of Fortune" are looking for new homes.

Probably the biggest roll of the dice for a station group like this. Wonder what Plan B is if these new shows just tank in the ratings before Christmas.

They should put these 2 on GSN

Re: "Jeopardy" & "Wheel of Fortune" are looking for new homes.

I really don't see these new shows being hits. But I guess that's not necessarily the idea; as long as it saves Scripps money, they can call them a success.

Still, I imagine Scripps will regret this move in the long run as their access numbers tank.

Re: "Jeopardy" & "Wheel of Fortune" are looking for new homes.

GSN is currently airing Season 25 of Jeopardy! I hope they pick up Wheel soon. They had it for awhile.

Anyway, there's another station to mention:

Syracuse, NY: WSYT (Fox); from WTVH (CBS)

I hope there's a Plan B for Scripps if those new shows really will tank before Christmas; Put some old reruns of "How I met Your Mother", "Two And a Half Men". or The very suprising "Big Bang Theory". I hope they'll play their cards well...

they're probably cheap

Re: "Jeopardy" & "Wheel of Fortune" are looking for new homes.

In Phoenix these two shows are moving from KNXV (ABC-15//Scripps) to KTVK (Ind-3) on September 27th.

I believe that's an error. September 27th is a Thursday this year.

I believe you've meant September 24th-Which happens to be on a Monday.

Re: "Jeopardy" & "Wheel of Fortune" are looking for new homes.

Rachael Ray has done very well for Scripps, though she was an established property through extensive exposure on Food Network (itself a Scripps property) by the time her daily show went into syndication. I suspect these new shows will be more like Meredith's "Better," which is cheap to produce and looks it, but has done well enough since its 2007 launch to stay on the air.

Primetime news, probably. Either that, or Food Network reruns.

Hmm, I wonder about WXYZ with its News at 7 and Entertainment Tonight at 7:30

Detroit I think is a special case in the Scripps chain; it's a three-station news town and there are people who still think WXYZ is owned by ABC. There seems to be a heavy amount of local control at WXYZ and management that knows it can't break the station with whatever idea corporate has come up with to cheap out. ET also has a declining audience, so it probably will draw a lower cost with the loss of Mary and Mark and stations having to tolerate that TMZ now has all the good stories ET claimed for their own.

The 7pm news isn't going anywhere; both WXYZ and WDIV have been neck and neck for years and you're not going to see a flagship station cede any ground to their competitor.

Well, WXYZ (and WJLA in DC) do have the WABC circle-7 logo although they're not ABC O&Os.

What will be the future of J! and WoF in DC and Philly?
