...I was joking. I don't require any "respect" from advertisers, nor do I want any.

But you'd obviously like them to continue supporting the oldies format on the radio, right?
Actually,I don't "support" Oldies radio. I think K-Earth is fun, and I listen when I'm in LA, but the Classic Hits station in San Francisco (the cleverly named "The Bay's 103-7") is a dull-as-dishwater voice-tracked Clear Channel station playing the same former hits I've been hearing for decades, so I rarely listen.

I'm pretty much over Music radio, in general. I may be old, but I understand MP3 players and computers just fine.

Is now a good time to mention I heard "Rainy Days and Mondays" not too long ago on WOMC-Detroit? Either Detroit just remembered they really love the Carpenters enough for them to "test well" or that was some skewed-lousy research. I've never heard them played regularly on any Classic Hits station, and low and behold, there they were - in Detroit of all places.

That's a real surprise! Do you remember time of day, whether it was a weekday or weekend, stuff like that?

Do they do some sort of special hour then? Songs on a particular theme or "70s at 7?"

Nope. I would have mentioned that if it was. It was around the 5 hour I think anyway. Regardless, my apologies for taking this thread in a different direction.

Hey, the Carpenters are just as classic, as the Eagles....early 70's! :D

Though they clearly had vocal talent, the Carpenters' syrupy MOR style always put me off. But to this day I remember hearing Rainy Days and Mondays sung by the songwriter, Paul Williams (a funny looking little guy with a blond dutch-boy haircut) on some late night talk show - Johnny Carson, probably. Williams' version blew me away- it was great.
