Jim Horn is too much...

Anyone else notice this? I *used* to somewhat enjoy listening to the morning show, but it is getting to be a competitive free for all, at least that is how it comes across to me.

As far as I am concerned, the morning show is still "Gary's show", but do you notice that whenever there is a guest, that Jim will jump in & talk over Gary, inserting his "2 cents", so as not to be overlooked?

It is especially noticeable at the end of the discussion with the guest; when Gary is wrapping up the discussing & saying the farewells, Jim will jump in & talk over Gary with a hearty "Thanks Terry" >insert name here< or whoever the guest is.

It is almost laughable - Jimmy boy doesn't want to be overlooked. I know radio is a fierce competitive market today, more so now than ever, but I can't help but be annoyed when I hear him doing that.

I would rather Gary just do the show by himself, or maybe Jim only speak when spoken to. He doesn't need to "sign off" along with Gary at the end of each guest discussion.

lol, just my rantings for the morning....I find myself tuning over to 580 more & more to get away from the attempted "One-upmanship". ::)

Wonder how Gary feels about it...if you listen closely, he stops short when Jim starts talking over him....I can almost hear the disgust in his breathing... ;)

Ahh, but don't forget that their show is listed in the Top 250 Talk Shows according to Talkers Magazine...and Mr Horn is the one from that show who attends Talk Radio conventions. He is the important one there. ::)

You are all insane. There is no more relevant radio talk show host on the dial than WSBA's Jim Horn.

Every week we depend on Jim Horn to tell us "what's going on in the York area." WHAT COULD BE MORE VITAL?

If not for Jim Horn and WSBA, we couldn't listen to so much Dave Ramsey. HAVE YOU ALL FORGOTTEN?

One previous poster correctly pointed out that he attends talk radio conventions. IS THAT NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU PEOPLE?

Jim Horn has achieved great success by modeling his radio station after WHP 580! HOW CAN YOU SO EASILY DISMISS SUCH BRILLIANCE??

So he talks over Gary Sutton. Who cares? The question you should be asking yourselves is, WHY ARE YOU LISTENING TO GARY SUTTON? I mean, besides the fact that he's the only guy whose cholesterol you can actually HEAR rising over the microphone.

I submit to you, dear friends, that without the unadulterated GENIUS of Jim Horn, we would have nothing at the 910 dial position. And by "nothing", I mean "pretty much the same crap."

I am humbled by the comments - I had noooooo idea..... ;D ;D

In person, I am sure he is a great guy... ???

I would be honored to travel to Columbia (not the one across the Wrightsville bridge) and personally pick the beans for Mr. Horn's morning cup of coffee & rush them back in time to catch the morning commentary before he heads off to another radio convention. ;D ;D

BTW, I didn't mean to insinuate that WHP was my fav. show either, but unfortunately the market is sorely lacking for talk show talent in this area...you know, "any old port in a storm"...

Oh how the mighty have fallen.... :-\

I heard he once ate the beating heart of a shark.

From what I understand, he & Kelly West shared it! ;D

Just what I heard, I really don't know that much about Kelly...wonder what her & Bobby Quinn are up to these days...

Don't have a horse in this race.... but these personal attacks about Jim Horn are coming from the "never was" or "wish I was" bench!

Last I checked,...He's still employed in what's left of this business and probably making some BIG BUCKS!...

Circle this date on the calendar...Radio Babe & I are in agreement on something. I don't listen to WSBA very often as I am now listening to Howard again on Sirius XM in the morning. I would only wonder though in this era of slicing & dicing air talent, how much longer Cumulus will allow 4 people tied to a morning show on an AM station to stay on the payroll. Jim is the PD and WSBA does look like its doing ok w/o having the flame thrower stick of WHP.

It might not have been the actual beating heart of a shark he ate.. It may have been a fish sandwich.. Like A Filet O'Fish.. Something like that..

Fish sammiches is tasty.

Jim Horn has been in just about every time slot on WSBA to keep his name out there. He's in it for Jim and no one else. That is fact!

Of course he's in it for Jim.. If you wanna work in radio, you'd better be your own advocate.. Nobody else will.. 'Can't fault him for that.

To address the Radio Babe, I don't recall reading any rules and regulations stating that RadioInfo posters need to be happy, successful, current members of the broadcasting community. We all have gripes, grudges, and a more-than-occasional sense of injustice or bitterness. Bad things happen to good people, and good things happen to morons.

Regarding Jim, I'd be remiss if I didn't salute him for this: Every day, the first thing he does in the morning is sit next to Gary Sutton for 3 hours.

Could you do that? I didn't think so.

HardCore out.

I seem to remember Jim on WLBR 1270 in Lebanon doing a Saturday night show in the late 60's. The station did TOP 40 at night and he was trying to do a Drake style format, complete with drum rolls and cut-up WLBR jingles. He actually made them sound good. He later went on to be Gene Gentry on WRAW in Reading. It was a house name they used so they could recycle jock shouts.

LOL, well, that raucous

GOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD MORNING YORK!!!!!

would knock me out of the chair every morning! Hats off to Jim for enduring that as well! ;D
I know its' the high point of my day... ;D

Heard that Jim Horn was hospitalized last Sunday when his heart stopped. It was restarted and was doing OK but does not remember the event. Anyone know his current condition?

Sounds like Jim barely escaped having his number called and card punched. I heard they had to nail him like 3 or 4 times with the paddles to get him back. He'll be outta action for while, which is good for what few listeners he has.

While the man is lecherous to work for and sounds horridly OLD on the air, no one wishes death on the man.

Your sensitivity is touching.

There may be a time and place for anonymously attacking someone, but after they have a near-death experience isn't it.

Sorry you're so bitter.
