Jocks who made it to major markets from WB/Scranton?

Can you name all or some of the jocks from the Wilkes-Barre area who went to major markets later? I remember a few, Harry West (KQV Pittsburgh), Jack Donager (WTOPDC, Chris O'Brien (Voice of America,DC and WFBR/ WQSR Baltimore) Christopher Sky (spelling)? Buffalo. Chris Chandler, back to Philly. They all worked for WARM at one time or another.

Brian Turner, went from WRKC to WMFU, Jersey City NJ (MD and PD).

Not a jock, but Brian Carey went from WRKC and WNAK, thru WARM and Philly to being named the top newsradio anchor at the top newsradio station in the country: WINS, NYC. That puts him at the top of the industry.
______________

Jocks only?

Chuck Siebertsen, FM107 - ABC Radio New York

And I think the jock then, Rich Levinson ended up in Wash. D.C. Is that major?

Kid Kelly was at WBHT in early to mid 90's. Ended up at Z100 in NYC, I beleieve he may have been there 2xs. Has now has syndicated 80's show. I think another WBHT guy from that time frame went to LA but I can not remember his name.

I know I'm butchering the name, but the late Mike Zarzinski,
did afternoon drive at WILK, I think he went by Panda. He
later wound up in NYC as "Willie Shears" and Michael J. I'm
real fuzzy on the name details but I know he followed Montione
into the big time.
I had a cousin who worked at WHLM in the mid 50s. Ed Price. He
worked at WTAE TV in Pittsburgh, then did a stint at KDKA and
WWSW AM as a final stop in the mid 80s. He did voice overs until
his death in 1991.
Tommy Woods went from WARM to WTOP in Washington, D.C. doing
news in the late 1960s. Woods was getting disenchanted with the
music scene and wanted to broaden his career.
A guy by the name of Dick Grimes wound up at WFIL in Philadelphia.
T.J. Lambert III is now working for the ABC/ESPN group in some
form of management. Goes by Ted Lambert, go figure.

Kid came to WBHT from Z100, to take the PD position. He already had Backtraxx on the air when he got to NEPA, though it was in it's infancy.

Didn't Max Kinkel of CBS-FM spend some time at WBAX?

Re: Jocks only?

When Patrick "Kid Kelly" made his stop at Hot97 he took Billy Hammond under his wing and back to NYC with him when he left.

Dick Grimes worked at WIBG, not WFIL. He also worked at WKBW in Buffalo and KQV in Pittsburgh. I am not sure, but I believe he passed away. he had a great deep voice, one of the best.

Great board, first post, happy to be here. Wasn't the spelling Czarzinski? Here, he was Andy Panda, or at times, Andrew J. Panda, which I believe is what he used at WNBC. WARM's George Gilbert spent some time at WIBG, and another WARMie, utility/swing guy Ric Herrold, wound up at WGAR for a time.

>>>Wasn't the spelling Czarzinski?<<

Nope; Sarzynski. I got it from the King's College database. Also check 1978-1979 WNBC aircheck listing at http://oak.cats.ohiou.edu/~gulino/aircheck/nyc_wnbc_only.html
______________

You got it, that has to be the correct spelling. He's been referred to as "the late..." Can anyone fill me in on this, what happened to the guy? I recall him being at WNBC when they were in an all-out war with WABC for dominance. God, that's pretty funny - two AM stations fighting it out for #1. What a different world we lived in then.

I understand he died suddenly in 1998 during or after a surgical procedure. Maybe someone else can fill you in.
______________

I first worked with Michael Sarzynski in 1983, when Joe Montione & I went to York/Harrisburg to change WHTF (92 Rock) to CHR (we did the same thing with WTLQ 5 months later, in Jan. '84). Mike did mornings and was PD. Tough boss, but very good guy. This was about a year after he lost his gig at WNBC (to make room for Howard Stern). Many years later, I got back in touch with him while I was working at New Jersey 101.5. He owned a stereo shop at the time (near Cherry Hill), and he joined me on the air at New Jersey 101.5. It was his first on-air gig in many years, and he sounded great. Hadn't lost a step. Unfortunately, Michael battled a severe weight problem for many years, and decided to undergo the same surgery Al Roker later had. He passed away in the hospital due to complications (1998). He is missed by all the people who had the pleasure to know him.

I had forgotten about "Double G" down at WIBG.

Brian Todd, who did nights on KRZ for a year or so, a few years back, is doing nights @ KRBE in Houston. JJ (who replaced Brian Todd) is @ KDWB in Minneapolis.
