He could very well be. I ran into him about a year ago, he was doing mornings at WICK. Doug Lane was just going to trial and the future of the properties was up in the air. The way he was talking, he was going to be on the air just as long as he was drawing breath. Don't know what happened to him...is he still on WICK??????

Rumor also has it that Frank Blair of NBC fame worked at WEJL years ago. The management told him he didn't have what it took and should get out of the business, so he ended up at the NBC network.

Billy Hammond went to Q in Philly before he went to Z in New York.
Danny Ocean went to San Fran then back to Hartford.

There was a guy named TJ who did late nights on Hot, heard he's in Philly. I think he's doing imaging for Sunny down there. Not sure.

Frank Blair came to Scranton and worked as GM of WSCR. But he thought the place was a dump so he went to WQAN. He was there when The Times opened their fifth floor auditorium with a live broadcast in April 1950. He sold the first commercilas ever on WQAN-AM. Sampters, I think. Until April 1950 WQAN carried no commercials.

He left to go to NYC. This came from Blair in a 1982 interview.

WEJL calls were assigned to the OLD FM and were transfered to the AM when rhe Lynetts gave up their license. In the 60s they got a new WEJL-FM license that is now WEZX.

Don't Forgetformer WEJL/WGBI's Gene Free now with METRO Traffic in NYC and was with Sirius 60s channel as morning man
WEJL's Frank Andrews was on WCAU-AM parttime

Great update on Blair, thanks. In his later years, towards the end of his network career, the rumor was that he lived at Lake Wallenpaupack, and was either flown(chopper)into NYC or limo-ed every day, the weather was the variable. I knew some pilots who lived in the Hawley area who claimed it was true, and that it was a deal the net traded out for him instead of hard cash, and that he was quite happy with it. Admittedly, it could be pure BS, as we all know!

Re: Jocks only?

I've read through a bunch of theses and hadn't read the name Todd Zarnitz, who was known as "Karson" on KRZ until he went to 'FLZ in Tampa.

How about Orlando????
That's where Ted Rose ended up for a while.

Two others that I know of:

-- Frosty O'Brien/Dawn Early: Started at WKXP in Bloomsburg (I was her first PD), went to Froggy 101, and is now at WXTU in Philly as Andie Summers - one half of the "Evans and Andie" morning show. They are also on a syndicated weekend countdown show across the country.

-- Me: Travelled around NEPA for a while (WILK, WKRZ, WHLM, WDLS, WMGS, WARM, WBHT), landed at WKXP in Bloomsburg from 93-96, ended up in the Washington, DC market between 1996 and 2000.

You are correct, known to his friends as Joe Iyoob. He did shifts on WARM, & Hot then went into production. Married the lovely Carol Dean (she did news on WARM). He is the imaging director at Sunny in Phila and doing great. A very talented guy.
