Travis,
Jody has gone public about his own demons, and how he has dealt with them. Having said that, if Jody did hurt his wife, or anyone else, it would likely make the news. That's what happened with Russ, and the legal issues resulting from those actions are not a part of the "show".
One must remember that their off-air actions and on-air actions are both a representation of their character and their employer. Can you imagine paying Russ to work for you, under the circumstances? He'd make you as an employer look bad, just as he did with CBS.
Simply put, Jody is a professional and Russ is a boy who won't grow up.
THANK YOU scrtr84! That what ive been trying to get across to the "Fans" for awhile. It isnt schtick or satire, its a very serious situation that any respectable company would want to distance.
Op, A sin is a sin to me, no matter if you're a drunkard, thief or a woman beater. We all know russ is going to have to face the consequences concerning his own sins and eventually repent. Its what you do afterwards thats the key: Redemption of yourself and others. Ive known people in this business who've lived way high on the hog with their money and name recognition, then their pride catches up with them and leads to their eventual downfall. This is one of those situations.
Lastly, for all the fingerpointers and fanboys, let me put this into your brainpans once and for all: I have very candid opinions and while it may appear that I have an axe to grind, I dont. Ive never worked with or for Russ Martin or any of his lackeys at anytime in my radio or post-radio careers. However, that doesnt prevent me from giving my 2 cents on a product and person that I have serious disagreements concerning their on and off air behavior. Ive also railed on other media parties in this town concerning their behavior over the past few years as well. I know at least a few who've came on here to speak their piece and defended their point(Mark Davis, Jody Dean, Scott Sams), which I gained more respect for them for doing so. If Russ wants to pony up and defend his POV, then he can do so. Until then, we have to go with what we know being reported in the media and by various parties who know or have known the man.
