Woohoo...what a winner....

An over caffeinated over-the-hill blabber mouth on a radio station that most people don't even know exists....

Sure makes me wet my pants in anticipation!!

Yeah, you do have to ask the question, "Why?" It's been well over a decade since Hudson and Bauer were a viable act and after Hudson died Bauer was offered a 75 percent pay cut by KFMB and "jumped" to KPOP where no one listened to him.

The hardest thing in show business can be to realize when it's time to walk away.

It's all about the passion they know as radio. Rod Page brokered his shows up to the day he died. It's the only thing he knew how to do.

I would assume Joe Bauer is in the same boat.

But, the whole brokered show thing is tricky. People think they can make a living on it. Some do, many don't. The good stations don't need to broker time and the poor stations have no listeners. Good luck Joe.

Well nothing should quash that passion like doing brokered radio on a station no one knows exists.

What killed me about this was Carmichael kept hinting that Err Amerika is making a big comeback soon. So 1700 tries Lionel for several months and then drops him for Montel who lasts several weeks!!! What's happening here is this sdnn.com clown is paying 1700 for air time.

It was $$ vs. $$$$. Radio Nova kept hinting they were coming to San Diego. How are they workin' out? Lost Randi Rhodes to Premiere Radio and the firm folded.

There is good radio out there, but there are too many stations on air to capture ears. Really, a five share as the number one station in a market of nearly 3 million folks? When was the last time Arby had a double digit in this market?

Money talks especially when the check clears.

If you're talking 12+, I believe it was 1981, with The Mighty 690.

Money talks, sure, but who's listening? Block time programming uniformly sucks. Go ahead, sell me some more colon blow and gas futures. Get me to put Grandma's fillings in an envelope and send 'em in for cash.

AM wasn't killed, it put on an undertaker's suit and buried itself.

Not entirely true. Much of the blame has to be put on the PDs who allowed (or crumbled to the Sales Manager for) such crap to be on their station. There are some very good block programming shows out there (financial advice, restaurant reviews, gardening, car guys, etc.) but, most of it isn't worth turning on your radio.

Colon blow should be on TV at three in the morning, not on the radio.

disappointed in show should have kept cnn on who are the two wimpys with bauer the first time I listened they were yuking it up about what 420 meant...that term has been around a long time and to bring it up on a new talk show is very immature yikes

Regarding Joe Bauer--more power to him! I think that it's great that he found a gig hosting a morning show in SD. He's the real deal. I have a lot of respect for what he's achieved over his long, successful career. Too bad more people can't appreciate his passion for the work.

Good luck to you on your latest endeavor, Joe!

Red, this is not a morning show...it is 3 hour infomercial...this time for a website and not colon blow.

Like others have said, Joe Bauer should have simply hung up the microphone and be remembered for his time with Hudson and Bauer rather than lower himself to be on a station which nobody listens to. He was freakin' atrocious on his gig at ch. 6 on that "San Diego Living" show. I can quickly see that he was undirectable on that show sitting with his hands clasped between his crotch reading from a TelePrompTer.

His unlistenable style of being "whacky and zany" is from a bygone era of radio which is long gone.

"Old morning shows hosts don't die, they just fade into infomercialdom."

That's a good way of putting it: this was the style of Hudson & Bauer, Charlie & Harrigan, Hudson & Landry, etc and it had that sound of a couple of guys sitting around trying to make their drinking buddies laugh and it had a lot of appeal to guys who thought they'd like to party with these morning teams.
