Joe Bauer returns to radio

Pick on Rod all you want but he was a genius.

A Brilliant Genius. I really enjoyed the KFMB night time broadcasts the most.

Well, let's see, this pay-for-play episode lasted less than five months: maybe Jeff N Jer can buy the slot.

I think that if you have to spend your own money to be on the radio then maybe it's time to learn about such concepts as "market forces" and "supply and demand."

I agree, Bob. Block time programming itself is one of the more whorish aspects of radio sales (of which there are many), but a former high-profile talent reduced to paying to be on the air... that's just sad.

Sadder is the blog-as-substitute-for-a-radio-show :-X Or the podcast (unless you're Adam Corrolla).... or maybe not. I could see doing a podcast if you have too much time on your hands, but few people will ever have more than a handful of listeners so it's basically a self-indulgent process.

Paying to be on the radio reminds me of Woody Allen in one of his early films, What's New Pussycat: His character was living in Paris and chatting with a friend (played by Peter O'Toole).

PETER:
Did you find a job?
WOODY:
Yeah, I got something at the striptease. I help the girls dress and undress.
PETER:
Nice job.
WOODY:
Twenty francs a week.
PETER:
Not very much.
WOODY:
It's all I can afford.
