Was rescanning my tv and found Joe-FM. Playing Christmas music. Nice graphics Joe! When did it sign on?
Congratulations. Here's my dumb question of b the topic. Can a radio translator be used to play the audio of a tv station?
https://www.fcc.gov/media/radio/fm-translators-and-boosters
Cross-service broadcasts are generally prohibited.* An FM translator station may only rebroadcast the signal of an AM or FM station or another FM translator signal.* It may not rebroadcast the audio of a TV station, or any other service.* See 47 CFR Section 74.1284(b).* Exception -- An FM translator that is authorized to rebroadcast an AM daytime-only station may continue to transmit programming even when the AM station is off the air for the night.
Huh. Well, "Mana Musica" is sure as hell doing it. 2 doors down from you on 38.7. It lists a couple of FM stations down in the Valley and Corpus at the TOH. I thought it was permitted, and I was wrong. Tejano's question wasn't dumb, but my answer sure appears to have been ignorant.
This is going to be my last visit to this forum for a little while. I've got medical issues to attend to. Will be back as soon as I'm able.
It appears Joe has left the building. 38.9 showing a still shot of the American Flag, with KCYB 103-5 Cypress Radio's logo on the lower left corner of the screen. Jim Pruett knows 1990's electronic dance music?!? I'd have never thought it. Hope Mediafrog checks in soon, is dance music really going out across 103-5 up there? Last I checked it going up to Bellville it was running more of a classic rock/pop format.
He must've known I was about to post this. Now playing "Sugar Daddy-O" by Despina.
Edit to add: Just ran the 01:00 ID. KCYB LP this is Cypress Radio 103.5 Cypress. It's apparently what's going out on 103-5 as well. My God, they're playing "New York, New York" by Micro Chip League. I really am having flashbacks. They told me years ago this might happen, lol.
