Sorry nic there is only 1 of me, and I have no other board names. I use this moniker on several different forums, to the point if you google it, and eliminate the japanese cartoon character, you find my posts on many motorcycle and automotive boards.
I have been out of the radio game for a while, not that I was ever in it all that deep, I was a CE for a few years while in college, but I went on to other pursuits. I did do some work for WLYN and WAZN a while ago and that was a close as I came to being involved in radio again.
And if I knew that this thread was going to turn into what is now 5 pages of fighting I would have thought twice about starting it. The best part of being a moderator on Marshfield.net is my ability to lock or delete threads, I only wish I could do it to this one.
The stuff about Parenteau being gay wasn't news, I worked with Rich B,( who at the time of his death was Matt Seigels producer) back in the late 70's. This was before Rich worked for FNX, and he was cutting his teeth at WJUL among other places. BTW Rich was the most talented person I ever had the pleasure to work with in the creative/production dept. So you have to remember this is say 1978, BCN is THE powerhouse station in Boston. everybody wats to be like the guys on BCN, play what they are playin, etc. So one day Rich who is working the listener line comes to visit and he has a friend with him, and we are talking about BCN, and this friend has all the info, I ask him how he knows all this and he says he is dating Mark. Getting outed in 1978 was unusual. I just never knew he had the attraction to boys. I still say it's sad that a talent like that ended up where he did, but I can't condone what he did either.
Julie D... worked as a bartender in the same town where Adam Chapman had his paper route, the place she worked was 3 doors down from where Joes friend Gene Sylvester had his office. Now Gene Sylvester is a name from the Neggy past. When I was doing public access he was a frequent guest when we did the pre election debates. (ya I know another access guy... hey it was a springboard to elected and appointed office, and I sit on the local CATV Board where I get to negotiate contracts with Comcast, RCN, and now Verizon. As I mentioned before I was a techie type, (getting my 3rd Class licence when 14 back in the days when you needed a 3rd with an element 9 endorsement to be a DJ.)My specialty these days is more administrative and financial ,watching the happenings in "cable" industry
and despite what anyone says, weekends on a top station in the #1 market..... is still better than 99.999% of us will ever have the chance to do.
rant over.
