John Bell says Good-Bye to Z100!

Think what you want, but the changes at Z over the past 3-4 years have made it less personal, less local and less relevent. John's departure is part of an overall attempt for CC & Premier to cut costs which ultimately lowers the quality of the product. Period.

That may be true...but this isn't the place for those comments. Why not share your thoughts in a separate thread? As for John, I was never a big fan of the station but I did listen to the morning show on occasion when my daughters were younger. I always enjoyed John's work and he is certainly deserving of much praise and credit for an incredible run. Hats off to you John!

:) John Bell on wcbsfm? He would fit in, but hate to see anyone leave there for room for John, How about Siriusxm radio? a live show not taped. He is a Awsome intertaining guy!! :)

Why? He's not dead. This is another case of companies thinking talent is disposable and the fact that someone who spent 31 years at a station (WVNJ and WHTZ) is dismissed for no apparent cause other than the usual suspected cost cutting moves, it deserves to be discussed since THAT is at the center of this whole thing.

Unfortunately, this happens with ALL radio companies... having worked for Clear Channel, CBS/Infinity and various other companies... this is a reality that I have seen with ALL of these companies in recent years. Not just in radio, but business in general, this happens everyday in corporate america. Not saying its right, just saying its a reality.

What we have to HONOR, is the 27 yr run that John had in one market! How many of us will ever be able to say that?

CLEAR CHANNEL Programming VP said it all at last year's NAB in Philly. He wants stars and recognizable people from outside of radio. He thinks there are way too many people on the air (still) that have not talent and no ability to draw a solid audience...

Same folks who do not understand the value of RADIO PERSONALITIES IN AND OF THEMSELVES....they do not have the time (it is their biz) to invest in training new talent in the mold the company wants....

Look for more folks like Whoopie etc...to be put on the air in place of local radio people.

******here is a thought**********If Apple had no APPS then who would want an IPHONE? the Iphone is a platform.
Radio is the same....at least as good as an Iphone if not better but the apps have gone to spit...thanks to Radio CEO types who do not get it...who dont want to get it...and who deserve the revenue losses they are not getting either...

Today on Brooklyncollegeradio.org John was on and He spoke about how he is not on Z100 anymore. He sounded so great, I had tears in my eyes as I have known John a long time. I see he still wants to be on radio and I hope He lands somewhere, He belongs on radio, he is not only a DJ but a Friend too. He loves his fans and friends. I wish ya the Best John!! :)

I haven't had a chance to listened to the show, but I missed it! I guess that WPKF's "Kiss-FM" at 96.1 in Poughkeepsie was simulcasting Elvis Duran with John B Bell's last day. I didn't listen since I was on my way to work. Do you have an aircheck of John Bell's last day? I remember him when he was on the "Z100 Morning Zoo" back in the 80's when Scott Shannon, Mr. Leonard and the rest of the "Zoo Crew" are there at the time.
