hope the "Boat Business" is doing really well, because anyone who walks away from a radio job "these days", that has one, better have something REAL GOOD waiting for them. by the way(who the hell is buying boats in this economy?)Kenroberts said:John's son told me he has a boat business and he is heavily involved in construction these days. Not enough time for the radio stuff anymore.

There are more important things in life ya know... The industry doesn't deserve or see the value of air talent like my dad these days. We don't appreciate local personalities enough to keep them around. Local station managers over the years have sold out like good businessmen should to the big boys, but the result is a radio landscape of meaningless and impersonal programming.
I think we will eventually realize what is missing and bring back the idea of local personalities rooted in the culture of where they broadcast. It makes me laugh to hear that big corporations are going under (regarding radio & media conglomerates). A trend that will hopefully catch on. They never understood the value of people or the communities they leeched from.
