John Meterparel/Larry Johnson

Also, I haven't heard the once ubiquitous Frank from Gloucester in a while. Could the "retirement" be real this time?

The one-tooth wonder will be back as soon as the Yankees win one game.

Frank still turns up from time to time... and Danny the Screamer gets on sometimes, as well.

Than man has "abuser" written all over his voice. He can't even say "hi" without sounded p*ssed off and screaming.

I can't comment on this subject, I havent' been able to turn on WEEI since the first Sunday of February for some reason. I am glad to hear that Dale got the Sox part time play by play job. Meterparel's radio voice makes me want to throw up in my mouth.

Could you imagine being around Danny all day long? Every call of his that I've ever heard, ends up with him screaming. He seems to think that he's an on-air personality. I heard that he graduated from Connecticut School of Broadcasting. If they took his money after hearing that voice, they have no concience.

meter calling the sox game was a complete disaster.

i dont think my ears will ever recover.

he WHAT??? When? WHY?? And, of course, the question is was he there in person or doing it from a studio like he did for the Revs/Kansas City Wizards game a few years ago?

He was there all right. He was so bad that Tony Mazz, and Bob Ryan commented on it in their columns. As bad as he is, doing B.C. football, why was he considered for even a spring training game? Who does he have pictures of?

i find meter about 100x more annoying than lj.

first off, i get the impression meter actually thinks he is good. someone should tell him he isnt.

secondly, yes lj has a high, whiney voice, but i still prefer it over meter's 'radio voice'.

I have to admit that I like Larry Johnson on weekends, especially when he antagonizes liberal Mustard. And unlike Jimmy Myers,e.g.,I've never heard him use the race card. He's a standup guy in that area. What I hate are some of his boorish, obnoxious regular weekend callers. When I hear the usual suspects'names,I immediately change the dial.....I agree that Danny from Quincy was born without ears. How else do you explain his incessant screaming each time he calls ? It's that yelling that makes him comparable to Jon Meterperal.Who wants to listen to a radio broadcaster yelling into the microphone ? Does this guy have pictures of Bossman Jason Wolfe in a dress ? He doesn't have a radio voice to begin with, then he yells at the listener ,like he's my pastor yelling at the congregation that we're all sinners. There's only so much of that I can stand.

It is a tough choice as to who's worse, Mustard or Johnson. I wouldn't care, because I don't listen to their show, but when LJ ruins the Big Show, it's annoying. He could probably get by with the bad voice, accent, and lack of sports knowledge, but somwhere along the line he decided that he's funny. He usually has one "funny" remark about a person and he won't let it go. If Mike Adams is mentioned. you can be sure he'll say something about a car wash. With Bill Clinton he'll bring up a cigar; Wade Boggs.........Margo Adams. etc. The next time he's on the Big Show listen to his constant one-liners, about 95% aren't remotely funny, but just stupid remarks.

He doesn't play the race card like Jimmy Meyers, but he brings it up a lot, usually under the guise of trying to be funny.

I totally agree with what everyone is saying about Meter/LJ. I honestly think LJ is more pathetic, thank god he hasn't gone on one of his bible rants with Mustard on the weekend. I remember several weekend trips to Maine where I had to listen to LJ preaching on the radio, I was shocked he hadn't got canned over the past few years. Not to mention, his laughing alone should get him canned from the radio. He sounds like some sort of wild bore when he laughs.

As for Meter, we all know his fake voice is so evident on the radio. I actually do play by play for the University of Maine football for our campus radio station. We did a game at BC last fall at Alumni Stadium and Meter actually came over to us because he didn't have any stats on our kicker Devin McNeil. He sounded nothing like his fraudulent voice on the radio and if you've ever seen him on Fox Sports Net with his baby munster hair cut he doesn't sound like he does on the radio either. But with all that being said, people do enjoy him doing BC football games. I have many friends at Boston College who LOVE Meterparel. "Matty Heisman take a bow" haha. It's sad but it's true. I don't think Meter is going anywhere. The only reason he's up here is because Gerry Callahan liked him so much after an appearance on North Carolina sports radio that he had him come up to Boston to take a position at WEEI.
