Do you think 'the station is the star"?? or do personalities really make a difference in this market?
As an old WARMIE, where "the station is the star" was prominently posted in the Avoca sales department, I think the case for that statement has been made repeatedly when the legends left or were left behind. Same was true when matinee-idol anchors left NewsWatch 16. It's the PLATFORM, not the player that makes (and unmakes) the stars. Talk radio may be an exception, since so much of the talent's character, opinions and behavior are hung out every day. This morning's responses from WILK listeners are abundanty evidence that these talkers touch us.
As for Kevin, as obnoxious and irascible as he wanted to be perceived, all of us in media should pay attention to the way he left this stage. Despite being taken aside and shown-the-door (for the Xth) time, he refuses to find fault with with the bosses. Classy, Kevin; thanks for years of entertainment.
