Johnson's bad, Mustard might be worse

Whatever happened to Jimmy McCarthy and Mark Witkin, the other 2/3 of the original Sports Huddle?
Andelman had other broadcast interests and the show ended shortly after he left. But I've heard that there was some hard feelings over money and the selling of the racetrack in Foxboro.
As far as I know J&M are still around, but not doing any radio(as guests). Jim said he wanted to do some traveling after retirement: Mark lawyering?

My guess is Andelman is on speaking terms with the two, but the relations are strained, at best. It's no surprise neither was invited to say a few things about the Bosox WS win or the Pats great success. Their absence speaks volumes.

This AM I turned on 'EEI expecting to hear the football show. Instead, the first voice I hear is that of Frank from Gloucester saying how much he hates the Patriots. For some reason the Commie and the Catfish were on. CLICK

Same here, turned it right off and was not subjected to any of their "callers".

oh no!

there were liberal viewpoints being spewed on weei?

scandalous!

by the way, i think i heard lj say he was a fred thompson supporter (before he dropped out). that is kind of funny.

I'm sorry but I'm not bright enough to interject my true thoughts about M&J. So I will put in my own simple way (and this is the nice version) THEY SUCK!!!. I would be more attracted to dead air before subjecting myself to that garbage.

I half expected to hear those two clowns this morning but I turned it on anyway at about 9:45. There they were. I clicked it off immediately. Occasionally I'll force myself to listen if I want local sports talk on a Saturday morning in the summer but those occasions are becoming few and far between....like Boston to LA far between.

Yes, Eddie left over money, they offered him less than they were paying him. That makes HIM greedy?

Less money because...

Maybe because his time had long passed and he wasn't as valuable a commodity as he used to be? Does a 36-year old declining athlete make as much money as he did in his prime? No. The move was two-fold, either get him and his reduced talent to stay at a reduced price (basically paying for a name), or offer him that much less that he will NOT sign and go away. He obviously proved EEI right. His "defection" to the "other" sports station didn't do much of anything, and the new "Sports Huddle" is a tiny, AWFUL weekend show. Not exactly someone I'd have given a long term contract to WITH a raise. Eddie obviously over-valued himself.

Regardless, it was very unprofessional of him to take it out on the callers.

While I'm definitely NOT an M&J listener...I think all of us (including former broadcasters) should keep in mind one thing.

Accuracy and content in a talk show are secondary to making sports enthusiasts and listeners ANGRY!

If a stupid comment by any talk show host can make a listener angry---he or she is getting a reaction! And let's face it...this makes a GM, GSM and most Programming Consultants happier than a pig in s**t....err...dog poop! ::)
