Joy Behar Leaving "The View"

Hey, why doesn't "The View" just add Ellen DeGeneres to the panel? It worked for "American Idol". :p

Hasselbeck is staying put:

I wonder who ABC has in mind replacing Joy Behar.

'The View' originally started with people from various backgrounds, and not well known, but the new additions like Rosie, then Whoopi and Sherri are all Hollywood and/or TV actors/celebrities (even Elisabeth was known from 'Survivor', although she turned out to have conservative political views), but it seems ABC just wants Hollywood and TV celebs anyways, rather than the likes of Meredith Viera, Lisa Ling, or Star Jones (when she was credited being an attorney and prior to her going the TV celeb route).

I bet Behar is leaving because she felt she is underpaid relative to the show's success which she feels she is a large part given her tenure and she is the only remaining original (Barbara has a p/t on air schedule for the most part), and ABC was unwilling to increase Behar's salary significantly. Or, it could be personal but I suspect it's less likely. The job is relatively easy, unlike early morning television.

The thing I hated most about Elisabeth was she was stupid. If you notice, Elisabeth is right a lot of times, and yet she can't defend her position and winds up looking stupid, even though she's right.

They need a conservative who has the brains to back up her points.

Considering her only claim to fame before this was being on "Survivor," should anyone truly be surprised?

Perhaps it may be time for ABC to cancel "The View", give back the 11 A.M.-12 Noon ET hour back to local stations, and reclaim the 9-10 A.M. hour so that ABC can expand "Good Morning America" to three hours.

With "GMA" having recently ended "Today"'s decade-plus streak as the nation;'s most popular network morning news show, it may be time for ABC to consider a third four of "GMA".

And doing so would probably cost ABC much less than keeping "The View".

Uh, we are going act as if you didn't say that. The View's ratings are strong for its timeslot, so it would be plain foolish for ABC/Disney to give it back to the affiliates.
