Judi Franco Out at WKXW

You don't like Jim Gearhart then that proves your out of lockstep with NJ and you just listened to 101.5 for Judi which most people I spoke with found her to be self serving and obnoxious ?

The station won't miss you since you're not in the area and you don't show up in the ratings.
Jim Gearhart is a ratings giant. Michele Pilenza. even though you don't like her in 6 months will have better ratings than Judi could ever hope to get in her 11 years. The station doesn't care about you not listening anymore all they care about is in 6 months Middays with Michele will be a ratings hit . You can count on that.

I listened today and Dennis at the begtinning of every hour made a little mention of Judi's departure. He did say that she left for personal reasons and that apparently she struggled with the decision she had to make. Apparently her contarct was not up as was previously suggested. He said she was fine as well as her family. So I don't know what the personal reasons would be.

I am a faithful listener to the station. From Gearhart to the Jersey Guys. As a letter Carrier who walks for a living, I have the station plugged in all day, and many are the times when I'm walking down the street laughing hysterical, and can just imagine what my customers are thinking.

I recall one time laughing hysterical that a car pulled up and the driver whom I thought was going to ask me for directions, simply asked me, "Are you listening to Dennis and Judi?"

Everytime I hear the introduction to thye Friday "Music hours" and hear Dennis and Judi singting "I can't live" and laughing hysterically, I crack up! <sigh> I'm gonna miss her, and that laugh and occassional snort she lets out.

But ... the show must go on .... so let's give Dennis and Michelle a shot!

RR suggested give the new show a chance but here's the problem. Dennis was dragging Michele and the show down today. Dennis sounded half asleep compared to Michele Pilenza.

I propose giving Dennis the rest of the month off while Michele does her magic. Look at the numbers and if they are better tell Dennis to stay on vacation.

Get over it people Judi isn't coming back she's the past and Michele Pilenza is the bright new breath of fresh air and the future of mid days on NJ 101.5

Judi Franco has more talent and on-air charisma in her little pinky than Michele P. has in her whole body. Michele is not likable - or talented, IMO. She will fail. HTH, HAND ;D
 
In 6 months when Michele gets the highest ratings mid days ever got in the past 11 years than you'll see. Judi won't be back because there'll be no need once the ratings take off with Middays with Michele. Young mommies and woman will dig the fresh breath of fresh air new sound of Michele Pilenza. People I've spoken with all agree Judi sounded obnoxious, self serving, idiotic, shallow, and tired. Dennis sounds old, worn out, burnt out and bored and is holding the new Middays with Michele Show back. Michele will succeed where Judi failed. All we are saying is give Michele a chance. Forget Judi she's now classified in the insignificant department.
 
I've been a loyal listener of Dennis and Judy for many years. I'm not a radio professional and have no interest in the show other than entertainment. And I was entertained by Dennis and Judi every day. Okay, Judi got annoying at times. There were times when I had to change the channel when she talked about being fat or old-looking so people would call in and compliment her. You could tell sometimes that Dennis was getting tired of her high maintenance nature. But, be that as it may. They were magic together. They had something that will no easily be replicated. Michelle Pilenza sounds like a very sweet person and I think she's good at what she does. But she and Dennis will never have what Dennis had with Judy. Dennis is not 1/2 as funny alone or with anyone else as he is with Judy, and that's just the truth. Sometimes, when I tuned them in, I could tell just from the tone of Dennis' voice whether Judi was in that day or not, that's the kind of chemistry they had together. Although he is trying to be professional, you can tell he and Michelle just don't click that well. I will keep listening and hope that they improve as they get to know eachother better and get more comfortable with eachother.

Now, let me just say that as a loyal fan, I think it is beyond disgraceful that her departure went barely noticed. Judi, love her or hate her, was a mainstay on that radio station for over 10 years and to just act like she was never there is horrible. I understand that she has personal reasons for leaving, but really, the fans who listened every day, deserve more. And frankly, so does Judi.

Anyway, just my .02, as a fan.

Oh, and Larry.....Dude....get over the Michelle thing already. She's good. You obviously like her a whole lot. But if anyone is going to be alone from 10 - 2, it will be Dennis, not Michelle. You're really starting to embarass yourself with the shamless promotion and adoration thing.
 
101.5 should ignore Judi's departure on air because in a few weeks when Michele brings in new listeners who couldn't stand the idiotic, boring, insecure, obnoxious Judi it's irrelevant to the future. Michele is the future !

Good lord. When Big Jay left WJRZ, someone went on and on about how horible he was. Now this with Judy.

She took more days off than anyone I ever knew. When she was there 30% of her show was the Franco Family update. Her father's illness, parents trips to Brooklyn, her husband, her kids, etc.. She could never carry the show when Dennis was out.

I'm thrilled I'll never have to hear her attempts at sing again. Like Carton, she thought she was more famous than they really were.

Another 1st time poster coming out of the woodwork spreading the hate and CLEARLY KNOWING MUCH MORE THAN SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T LIKE THE SHOW SHOULD KNOW! Oh and apparently this person is a "Jim Gearhart" Fan?? However I DO agree with your stance on Casey and Rossi!

This is so much BETTER than cable. I tried yet again listening to the Dennis and Michelle Show and sorry it's just not my cup of tea. Having said that I do realize that "teams" take time to build but the aim is to not alienate the entire audience in that "break in" period.

Let's face it, given the current state of radio Judi's talents came at a cost and clearly Millennium chose the cheaper alternative. Like anything in life, YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET! Poor Dennis :-\

I have been listening to Dennis and Judi for the last 10+ years. I am heartbroken to hear that Judi has resigned. In my humble opinion, they were the best talkshow team on the radio. They could talk about anything, or nothing, and still be totally entertaining. Even when they would talk about the show not being so funny that day, they were funny. Dennis and Judi always put a smile on my face and made the work day fly by. I will truly miss Judi's laugh ... also the best on the radio! And, what will we do now without dear Joe Franco ... not to mention Dennis and Judi's hilarious impressions of Joe? I am just in shock. I will admit it .... I do not like change. I tried to listen again today with an open mind. Michelle is a nice person ...... but, she is not Judi. I realized today at the end of the show, that I didn't break out in a smile once .... let alone hysterical laughing that was often the case when listening to Dennis and Judi. I was actually bored today. I know this will sound corny, but I expected to grow old and gray and laughing together with them. I agree with honestfan's statement .... They were magic together!
 
This thread is getting ridiculous. Actually, let me rephrase that. LarryKerly is getting ridiculous. Look, Michelle sounds very good and is doing a fine job with Dennis. And I think in time the two of them will be good together. But right now, there is no way she can be as good with Dennis as Judy was. Even Michelle would probably admit that. They had 10 years together. It's tough for Michelle to come in after that kind of history. But I think she's off to a good start. Having said that, I have to agree with an earlier post. If anybody would be alone, it would be Dennis. Whether you like him or not, he is established on that station. He is a "name" on that station. Right now, Michelle is not. She may be someday, but she is not now. So Larry...seriously, stop this. You're embarrassing yourself with all this Michelle promotion. Either you're her husband or agent...or you're some crazed stalker. I can't tell which is true.

Judi will be missed. But I think Dennis and Michelle will do just fine.
 
I don't know. I could never listen to Dennis alone or Judy alone the show wasn't the same. Dennis and Michelle are like Regis and Kelly Ripa more like a father and daughter than a team. Larry sounds to me like a high school kid.

I really have to say I don't know WHAT people see in Michele Pilenza in this slot. She was pretty good at the After Hours show, but WHAT does she bring to the afternoon show? She is NOT funny. I like hearing her talk about stuff other than the after hours stuff. But she's not funny. It felt like Dennis was carrying her most of the show.

I'm still VERY interested in what happened to Judi. Since her kids are now older, it's not like she left to raise a family, I assume. I really hope she's or her husband's not sick with something really bad. I don't think that she was dissatisfied with the show or the station.

My vote is Dennis and Tyronne over Dennis and Michelle. In my opinion, Tyronne is much more interesting and brings a much more varied and diverse perspective than Michelle ever could. Plus, he can be very funny. Michelle....not so much...

Don't worry, I'm not going to get on the Tyronne Johnson soapbox ala LarryKerly w/Michelle. But as I was listening to Tyronne with Dennis today, I realized that I really enjoy when he makes his "appearances" He adds to the program, rather than just being a "sit-in" which is how I feel about Michelle. I think he and Dennis are different enough and alike enough that they could make a really innovative and entertaining show.

Hopefully the mucky mucks at 101.5 read this board and take this suggestion into consideration.

There was a reason why Craig Carton gave him the nickname of "Radio Cancer". The occasional chime-in from him is fine, but can you imagine listening to him for 4 hours a day?? I'd have no problem if they gave other people try-outs instead of just plugging Michelle in there, but that guy is lucky he gets the small amount of air time he does now.
 
I was enjoying reading all the comments and I feel Judi or Michele would be fine for me but I have to comment on Tyronne Johnson.

I've been a loyal Dennis and Judi listener for over 7 years. The only time I feel the need to change stations is when Tyronne Johnson comes in. Tyronne's voice is grating and he's difficult to follow and isn't funny what's so ever.

I would encourage 101.5 to keep Tyronne off the show since I feel he's a liability to the station and the show. I love Dennis but I will definately stop listening all together if Tyronne continues to speak.

If Tyronne or his family and friends want to condemn me on these boards so be it since I feel they would be the only ones that would suggest such a bad move. I had to strongly speak out what a turn off Tyronne Johnson is.
If Tyronne Johnson's nickname is Radio Cancer than it fits. Please keep him off the air he's hurting the station.
