Judi Franco Out at WKXW

I would have to agree with Honestfan ... I would much prefer Dennis and Tyronne to Dennis and Michelle (although I am secretly praying for a miracle that Judi could somehow come back). In my opinion, Tyronne has always added something interesting to the show when he chimes in and he is often pretty funny. I don't find that the case with Michelle. Yes, she's nice .... but, she really doesn't do anything for me. I tried to listen to her show at night, but I really can't take 4 straight hours of relationship talk. I still miss Roberta in that time slot. Now, SHE was funny! Dennis and Judi and Roberta were the only shows I found totally entertaining on this station ... and now they're both gone. I will continue to listen to Dennis and Whoever for a bit longer because I really do like Dennis ... but, it's just not the same without Judi ... and I really can't imagine anyone filling her shoes to make the show as interesting and funny again.

I have been a loyal Dennis and Judi fan for over 10 yrs. I was so upset to hear tha Judi left the station the other day. I agree that sometimes she can be a little rough on the callers, but usually only when she flew solo. You had to really provoke her, or be a true idiot to get her fired up when she was paired with Dennis.

I feel that Dennis could carry the show when she was absent, but Judi didn't do as well with that.
I will miss their amazing on air rapport that could never be duplicated. I loved her wisdom and life experiences that she could bring to the mic everyday. The two of them being close to the same age with similar family values ( though different cultural and religeous backgrounds ) made them seem like radio family. I tuned into them during the days following the 9/11 tragedy..I tuned into them when the national elections became such a rat race that their words felt like a grounding.
I introduced myself to them when I saw them on one of their public appearances. My daughter met her when she was vacationing with her family in our area...and got me an autograph..
I will not only miss Judi, but the two of them together as a team..
As far as Michele Pilenza goes....she just doesn't do it for me...she seems sweet, but her lack of life experiences make her very limited and boring with whatever she talks about...whenever she was on in the evening, her topics seemed to be limited to topics of newlyweds..not at all entertaining to a 40 something...she is way too inexperienced all around to fill Judi's shoes...boring, repetitive..worse than Jim Gearhart. I'm past drooling babies and engagement and newlywed sex topics...all she can talk about apparently

I think 101.5 is sort of done now...at least for me. Looking like an ipod dock for the car is my next best option because the whole reason I switched to talk radio was that NJ and Philly radio is hands down the WORST radio I have ever experienced.....
Judi, if you are reading, I wish you and your family nothing but the best !

does anyone know why charod left?

I didn't know he had? ???

FWIW - as I said I no longer have any need to listen to 101.5. I have a Sirius subscription that I only listened to in the car - now I'll get more out of my subscription, I'll listen to Sirius online at work. :)

Radio is still fun!
Yes...Radio IS still fun. And my this "cume" that you referred to means NOTHING if it is at the expense of another radio professional losing their JOB!

I listened today and Dennis at the begtinning of every hour made a little mention of Judi's departure. He did say that she left for personal reasons and that apparently she struggled with the decision she had to make. Apparently her contarct was not up as was previously suggested. He said she was fine as well as her family. So I don't know what the personal reasons would be.

I don't understand that. If, indeed, Judi left on her own, then why wouldn't she say good-bye to her listeners?

I do understand that radio station management doesn't generally let personalities (the few that are left) do a "good-bye" show, so, in this case, did Judi give notice to her boss who then told her to leave that day so that she couldn't be heard on the air again?

I think Charrod moved to San Diego as his wife took a job there. I believe that is what he said back in September. He got a good bye party and said good bye before he left. I guess because he wasn't an "on air personality" he was allowed to say he was leaving.

What will you do with that radio when XM/Sirius throw in the towel? They are in serious financial trouble.

I liked the Denis and Judy, Jay and Hilliry, D&D error, with music at the top and bottem of every hour, Oldies weekends and overnights, Willy Twiman.

I just checked the internet and found out from a link at the trentonian newspaper that Judi left to take care of her son with special needs. She was not fired. I hope this answers the dilemma.

There was never speculation she was fired. It's been repeated on air and several times in this thread that it was a long decision that involved her voluntary departure.

Attaching a link would've been nice... ::) BTW, check out some of the comments that people put at the end of the article. There is a certain level of negativity on this board but NOTHING compared to some of the remarks left under this news story.

Why would she tell this to the Trentonian but not mention it on the air to people who may have been listening to her for a decade and instead just disappear without a trace?

That doesn't make sense.

It's also very strange that her last show would be the MONDAY before Thanksgiving. Sounds awfully like an abrupt ending to me....

Hurry listen now !

Dennis is out and Michele is shining ! The show sounds so much more alive without Dennis.

Mid days with Michele is great and hopefully Michele will stay solo mid days on NJ 101.5.

Today proves Dennis is adding nothing but holding Michele and the show back. Let Michele do her thing and watch the big profits roll in as long as Dennis stays home. Listen to all the people telling Michele they love the show. Of course they love the show Dennis isn't there.

Mid days with Michele on NJ101.5. !

The reason I believe Michelle Palenza sounds so good today without Dennis is because her and Dennis really didn't sound good together the last few weeks, just no chemistry and it sounded forced. I'm enjoying the show today but Michelle just needs to keep radio cancer Tyronne Johnson and others out of the studio and the show should roll along sounding very good today. Sorry to say this but after listening the last few weeks Dennis really does need Judi but Michelle does sound very good and much happier alone today without Dennis.

Larry, let it go already...

Michelle sounds like a teenager. How much can you listen to this air head. I can't listen anymore it is too much father and daughter. Neither has anything in common. Look forward to seeing what the ratings look like.

It’s too bad..i just discovered the show about 8 months ago and quickly fell in love with it. Dennis and Judi were a terrific pairing – so funny together and perfectly in synch. I’ve been listening regularly to the new show – trying to give it a chance - but I don’t think I can do it any longer. I think to replace Judi with such an inexperienced host is ridiculous and frankly a little insulting to not only Dennis but to the listening audience. Dennis needs to be paired with his professional equal. I’m sure Michelle is a lovely person and 29 is not all that young, but she sounds much younger than her years and brings nothing to the table. Her lack of experience is painfully obvious in her inability to complete sentences or thoughts. And while I like that she doesn’t always agree with Dennis, she is not articulate enough to defend her point of view. And the sexy bantering that Dennis had with Judi sounds rather gross and inappropriate with the adolescent-sounding Michelle.
I’m curious to see if this new team will be successful.

NJ is a blue state. We're liberal, Democrats, and voted in Obama. I always wondered why Dennis and Judi would get on the air and rant like a couple of backwoods rednecks and pretend the entire state felt the same. I mean -- do what you want on the air, but don't call it NEW JERSEY's radio station.

Judi seemed to feel that women belonged in the kitchen, serving their family first, and yet hypocritically, it was ok for HER to have a job. So maybe she just decided to stay home. On the other hand, don't be surprised if she turns up solo in another market.

I'd welcome the station giving a more accurate representation of ALL of NJ.
