JULIE'S INJURIES WORSE THAN FIRST SUSPECTED

Please keep in mind that there are 2 Max Millers, I think. One is the former sports-anchor, pipe-smoking and now high-flying-over Dallas-KRLD Traffic guy. The other is the Ichabod Crane-looking, nervous-Nellie, not-ready-for-prime-time-voice-announcing, Dallas Metro Manager. I think that's right. I could be wrong about the Ichabod Crane thing. In any case, the point is that everyone involved in the local news media is concerned and wishes Julie a speedy recovery.

Here's your Ichabod: www.vartv.com/miller_max.jpg Sorry about the small image size; you can blow it up if you want. And maybe you want to.

Mike...I agree that there was nothing improper about your post. I also commend your boss for supporting you. We all need more of that in today's working environment.

"Good lord,it reminds me of talk shows, where divergent opinions and FACTS are not allowed"

KPLEX, are you really this one dimensional or is this a bit?

Good he supported you Mike. When the heck are bosses going to realize what
you do or say on your own time, and not on the company clock, is nobody's
%&$#^ business!?. I don't care what anyone says. When I'm at home, or
at a bar after work, I'm not representing ANY freakin' company, except
my own.

Office Max (the Okie from Muscogee) enjoys playing with knives, and this
isn't the first time he's tried to get people in trouble for petty little BS stuff.

Guess someone hasn't told him what goes around comes around, and when
you play too close to the fire, at some point, you're going to get burned.
Might be today, tomorrow, or 30 years from now. But it WILL happen.

Firstimer : Pure commentary. A talk host doesnt care for an opinion based on fact that makes him/her a fool. One dimensional? Hardly. Itsounds like you are drowning in tolerance...Oh Darn it!Sorry Robert!!;)
Yes Max needs to keep in mind his pipe smoking should be in a wel ventilated area and not carried into the office/aircraft. Mike's Boss showed grit and class.

Thanks, guys, for the support. However...according to my friend's email Tuesday morning (after the fact,) he said that the family had asked the local media outlets not to broadcast that piece of information.

That would also explain why Mr. Crilley didn't include much about Julie in his report the other night with Chip.

She's got our thoughts and prayers.

My boss properly informed Max that what I do on my own time is my own business.

Of course it is, and any reasonable person would understand that. It's great that you have the support of your boss, and I'm sure you can see we all support you here.

The latest on Julie, that I heard on G&J driving in to work this morning, is that her surgery was rescheduled for early this afternoon, she will have two surgeons involved in the procedure, and she is still expected to fully recover. I have no doubt that the positive energy coming from all of her listeners, friends, and colleagues around the Metroplex helps, so let's keep her in our thoughts and prayers!

Mike,

The man (Miller) sounds like a complete nutcase. Sounds to me like he’s one of those “control-freak” type people. Your boss stood up for you, which means he is a true professional with a lot of class.

Max, if you are reading this: GROW UP!

R

(Still sending out well wishes to Julie)

Indeed...bossman John McCarty (former Star 105, Young Country) has always been fair with me, even through my occasional, irritating wackiness over the last 5 years!

And thanks to all for the support. It means a lot. YES, all the best to Julie...hope everything goes well.

Hmmm...should KEOM consider a change of traffic services?

Hang in there Julie. Now then here is a question: If the family wanted to keep things "private" why did KVIL make a new mention of her surgery being rescheduled? (No slam on Ben here). Could it be only Metro clients need to know? Information control in progress? Max again the pipe smoking/cigar chomping is a little bit much in the elevator/office.Please a bottle of Frebreze is in order.

John McCarty you are class amigo!

Exactly. I don't understand the conflicting messages of why she calls in with updates and then the family says they want privacy. Can't have it both ways. ;)

BTW, I knew you weren't slamming me, but thanks for making the point. I feel like we have made our peace this week and I hope you feel the same way.

I agree, it makes no sense. Julie's family needs to realize that once you become a figure on radio, TV and so on, you give up your true right to privacy.

Knowing Julie as I have had the pleasure of, over the last geez 17 years or so, I would say that what you are hearing on the air on Lite 103.7FM from her IS what she wants the world to know, and what the damage control of Metro is trying to do, is keep it from sounding like neglect of maintence on a vehicle that flies!

Not knocking OFFICE MAX, but the truth is, that once it was out on the airwaves that the surgery was taking place, and KVIL was giving updates about it on their website and on the air, its pretty much public domain.

Mike and the rest of us, that are working or have worked in Traffic Reporting Services, we might fight like cats and dogs while we are on the air, but once the microphones are shut off.. we are family! Lets face it.. this biz in general is a small fraternity.

WITH that SAID! I wish Julie a speedy recovery, and I hope that she knows that this FRATERNITY cares about her, and hopes that she returns better than ever, and we will be here to support her with our words, as well as our actions to let her know that we do care!

As for this BS of what can be said or should be said on this board... once again we are for the most part professionals in this industry, and this is our way of communicating! WE have done so, and we will continue to do so!

GET WELL JULIE!

Just a thought

Interesting point, Dave.

Is the NTSB still investigating?

I have to wonder what will happen if Metro is found at fault.

Metro wouldnt be found at fault. They lease the chopper not own it. The co. who owns it is liable. Apparently there will be some law suits coming in the fall once the investigastion is concluded or near conclusion. It usually occurs.

Hi,

I've never posted here before but I wanted to fill you in on Julie. The reason why things were kept private on the first day was because that is what her husband requested. He didn't want family and friends finding out that Julie had a broken neck on the radio or tv. Julie has been in ICU since Monday. She had surgery today at 1:30 and is expected to make a full recovery. I will be seeing her again Tomorrow and will pass along all your well wishes.

Thanks,

Leigh Ann

Thanks for the correction.

Who owns the chopper?
