June PPM's

Anyone have any numbers yet? Would week 4 of June include All News 106.7?

WYAY went fully all-news on Tue. May 29, so they're missing 5 days from this survey period.

The June 2012 report is for the publicly released age 6+ overall rankings for the survey period covering Thu. 5/24/12 - Wed. 6/20/12.

The next survey period will be for July 2012 covering Thu. 6/21/12 - Wed. 7/18/12 with the report release date being Mon. 8/6/12.

Note: stations that do not subscribe to Arbitron in certain markets will not show in those markets.

It looks like River got a bounce from the demise of AGH.

The first book for AN106.7 is not bad. The Merlin stations in both Chicago and NYC got 0.4 and 0.6 respectively on their first books. The sad part, is neither Merlin station has gone above 0.6. I think that pretty much says it all about their product. News 92 FM in Houston hovers around 0.8-1.0 but they suffer from a signal that does not cover the entire market. So, all in all, I don't see a 1.1 as a bad book for AN106.7's first time at the gate.

Seems WYAY just pulled a 1.1 away from WSB/News. They were expecting a better debut
than what they got.

Some WYAY listeners have also gone to B-98.

Star has got something the other CHRs wish they had.

WSB News is a mess.....and no wonder.....after listening to their one sided FOX NEWS
type talk show a bit this afternoon......I think they are turning more people off than on.

they gotta be pleased w/their debut compared to other all news launches. 106 7's first full three weeks on the air was an 0.8, 0.8 and 0.7
the higher share being tossed around includes the first week of the book which had 5 days of oldies and only two days of the new format, thus the higher +1 share.

The reason the .8 went down to .7 in the third week is that wpb1999 disappeared.

So I take it that when the June book comes out, we can expect to see numbers around 0.8 or less for AN106.7? What a go CumeLess (errr I mean Cumulus).

In Philly during the same period, Classic Hits WOGL jumps from 6.6 to 7.2 6+ and is #1. What's the difference between Philadelphia and Atlanta that we can't have a Classic Hits station that does this well?

I'm surprised at how Clear Channel seems to continue to struggle in Atlanta - their highest rated signal is in 13th place, 94.9 The Bull, who is tied with WiLD. Project stays stuck around a 3. I think WiLD could be the cluster's best performer if it was on a bigger signal. Patron remains a distant 4th in CC/Atlanta with WGST last.

Patron must bill well because nothing appears impressive in their numbers or cume.

Dave-FM was up, so whatever they were doing last month must have been a step in the right direction...

When did they drop the retro 80s new wave weekends?

Several of my posts have been countered with CC is doing good in a few key money demo's. I can only guess 96.1 (like 92.9 for CBS) does well in a big money demo. When they killed Peach/Lite 94.9 for the Bull, headquarters in Texas was satisfied with the billings. I guess the "C" operators (Cox, CBS and Cumulus) and Lincoln are satisfied with the billings.

It does not matter what the ratings are as long as the billings are okay. One of the reasons everybody is jumping on the all news bandwagon is the billings for those operations tend to be good even if the 6+ ratings are not.

Towards the very end of the month I think - so all of the June PPM measured the 80s weekends. Maybe they shouldn't have pulled the plug.

Asked and answered before in MANY other threads. Now we are down to just griping about the same, same, same, same thing over and over and over and over.
"What's the difference between Atlanta and this city or that city?"
"Why do Atlanta stations ignore the preferences of folks over 50?"
"Why does that city have successful oldies stations?"

The difference is that Atlanta is Atlanta, that's just what Atlanta stations do, and that city is that city and they just don't.

There. End of subject, PULEEZE!

Could WGST simulcast on 94.9 Soon ?

Really? Why not 96.1 or 105.3? They are farther down in the dumps than the Bull or WiLD. I don't need to have WGST on FM for any reason. Glenn, Rush, and Humphries come in fine on the AM. No one NEEDS to here Mark Levin and Michael Savage on in the evenings. There is also a little internet tool called iHeartRadio. Absolutely no need to waste a signal for just night-time personalities.

Okay...except that billings and ratings usually go hand in hand. Of course, sometimes the 6+ numbers mask that a station is doing well in its target demo.

Because of all the Northern transplants over the last 20 years, Atlanta is a much younger city than Philadelphia

Atlanta is probably most similar to Washington D. C., which, if you look, also has one "Classic Hits" station that is basically Classic Rock, just like The River, and no "pop" Classic Hits stations

Same with Charlotte BTW - one Classic Rock and no Classic Hits

Young cities don't support pop Classic Hits stations, because advertisers want to target the much larger younger demos

Very simple.. This is an urban market. I do think that a well programmed classic hits/classic rock could do pretty well in this market though. I just don't think such a station would be doing THAT well here.

Would love to see someone find a good formula and give it a go.. I'd listen.

I think you make a good point. Actually, most of the Atlanta stations are "young"/unique for their format - look at B98.5...

Isn't Orlando relatively young, though? Pop classic hits does well there. Their classic hits station is heavier on the 80s, though, so that may help their demos.
I think it does well in Raleigh and Dallas also, which have seen a large share of younger transplants.
