Very trueThey also have a huge overlap. No doubt the focus/emphasis on the “battle between them” stuff is over the top. Adult hits and classic hits can occupy their own spaces, but they are in some of the same audience space and share plenty of music.
Does the book just released cover the period the remake took place? The entire period? If not, you've just added a new layer of meaninglessness to already meaningless numbers. And I don't understand WOGL. It gave itself a new moniker, it took most of its DJs off the air for a month and replaced some of them with new voice tracking. And it stayed almost steady in the ratings. Hardly a difference.

While there are some very secondary signals (or the still-questionable use of Channel 6 analog audio in Chicago) doing 50's-60's and early 70's oldies, the only stations with decent ratings and sales are "classic hits stations playing a few late 70's songs and mostly 80's and a touch of 90's material.Seems only the big east coast cities are without a local oldies outlet, why? when a majority of the popular top 40 stations and classic oldies music came from this area. Most areas of the country are within earshot of a variety of oldies formats.
It's a good thing it's just that the rock stations in St.Louis and Philadelphia are such powerhousesThe residents of Denver, St.louis and Philly really do love their rock stations good lord
You act like its a bad thing, is it.... On another note, if Black oldies are on the rise, why doesn't anyone consider Mass Appeal oldies. Kudos to R1 for ignoring the tired jargon that oldies are for the almost dead advertiser unfriendly group and sticking with the format.
