JV & Elvis FIRED!

According to a report by Hannity & Colmes...JV & Elvis are out at Free Fm. With that stupid unfunny stunt that O & A pulled on their XM show, Will Dan Mason blow them out too and start that whole place over from scratch?

A nice way to take the blame for what FREE FM was by saying they are firing everyone for what "they" did and starting over rather than simply changing formats and having to admit it never worked in the first place.

Freedom of speech could only go so far. But the bit that Opie and Anthony did, even though there are no FCC regulations on non-traditional radio was beyond deplorable.

Condoleeza Rice is an oppointed official by the president of the United States, Laura Bush is the first lady and Queen Elizabeth is an important person in history. And having this homeless character having a fantasy about sexually assaulting these three honorable ladies should be investigated.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy

It really is amazing how the once mighty have fallen. I used to be a big O & A fan when they were in afternoons and still gave a crap about their show. A lot of the stuff that they've gotten themselves in hot water for in the past, I will admit, I thought was funny. But I don't know too many people, men or women, who find rape funny. They really have hit rock bottom. No ratings on terrestrial radio, and now they go and pull this bit. The sad thing is that Opie is smarter than that. I will guarantee you that he had a knot in his stomach when the bit was happening but figured it was satellite and they would be fine.

Those two need to back and listen to old afternoon shows to remind themselves of what made them great. That's if they even still have a career left.

Investigated for what? To see if this homeless guy will actually rape Queen Elizabeth? They are public figures and subject to commentary good bad or indifferent. This is ONCE AGAIN a trumped up press crucifixion of these guys, only made more "important" simply because Drudge broke the story. It's a new day, our civil liberties continue to erode. This won't end, hell we fire officials with differing political views, why not fire, destroy the careers of those who just say things we think are a little off color, regular talk radio is next. And I'm sorry, Condoleeza Rice, honorable??? I think her complicity in the perpetuating war subjects her to some innocuous "b-ll busting" from an obvious lunatic off the street. Please do me a favor and get off your moral high horse. "Honorable lady", stupid O and A never assisted in the death of 3500 men women and countless others. Delusional and deluded.

Investigated? What's to investigate? Do you think this so-called homeless person could actually get close enough to them, let alone rape them? Give me a break. The bit was lame and unfunny...but come on, "investigate?" Sheesh.

Show me your papers, please.

I don't see the Police knocking on your door for writing that "opinion" of the Government. Seems like things are working well. You can say how you feel and thats cool, wrong but cool cause its your opinion. Is a Homeless Guy ranting on air a bit? Sounds like they were just letting him kill some time while they got paid. Again, America cool place that lets that happen. Until a boss gets too much heat. And that happens in any business. Now lets not cry about these millionaires anymore. They used to be great.

Wait a moment. SEAN HANNITY said " Im hearing that as of two hours ago JV and ELvis have been fired" and as much as I know many of you love Sean, well let's just say it was not the most credible source. IF they are fired shame on CBs for keeping them hanging this long. However Sean Hannity blurting it out when there is not any definate word otherwise is not exactly gospel truth. I COULD believe it happening, cbs lets them go on a Friday evening to avoid a week long news cycle (not that JV and ELvis are Imus, they're not known by that many people so they would not garner anywhere near the same sort of coverage as Imus's situation did) but Im sure they didnt want to take any chances if they did let them go. That company needs more bad publicity like Donald Trump needs a hari modeling contract.

I can see the headlines now "JV & Elvis Fired.. Putting yet another hole into the modern day- Titanic-- Free FM"

They're fired. I posted this in the other two threads on them even before this one was started http://www.falloutcentral.com/news/...f-vandergrift-jv-dan-lay-elvis-canned-by-cbs/

If this is the case, Free FM is done!

This was their best show on the air, and I consider this CBS basically destroying another one of their stations in NYC market.

Shame on CBS! Lets just say if this is true, I will not listen to Free FM anymore.

X

Yeah well while I share your enthusiasm for the doghouse as a show I dont know that you can say "in that case free fm is done" for losing their MID DAY show

LOl

Too bad, they have a good vibe JV and Elvis!.

PS..... I may be wrong but when people comment about "CBS this, and CBS that" the only name I see is this Karen Mateo who is the head of publicity or public relations etc. From everything Ive seen she has done nothing more than make most of these situations worse in her handling of the PR becuase the cbs spin has been almost non existent. Completely re-active, not at all pro-active which is always a losing strategy. CBs Corproate has just misfired over and over again to the point where someone could and should make a huge sum off of them in a crisis management capacity.

Buzz...that was the most intelligent thing I've read on these boards in a very long time. You're exactly right. CBS continues to wait until they see just how things are going to get before they react. If they would get out in front of their problems a little faster, maybe they would avoid all of these complete disasters.

Rob im not sure that they really could avoid all of the disasters as you stated but I do know that anytime one plays reaction strategy they are in essence playing defense. No matter who you are or what your situation, if you're on the defense you are almost always at a disadvantage. It's as simple as the difference between running a mile uphill or the same distance on a flat surface, one is easier than the other .

It's just not good strategy if it can be avoided.

Robrosen and MB1 -

You guys seem to have a REALLY passive-aggressive angle towards O&A. Seriously. This thread is titled "JV and Elvis" fired but you guys are going after O&A.

Here's a few differences...

1) Imus said "Nappy headed hos".
2) JV and Elvis wrote and voiced the asian bit.

Now...

3) A homeless, uneducated man who sounded very much liek Richard Pryor says those things about Condi Rice. O&A had no control of the XM side of the bit.

The whole point of the Homeless Charlie bit was "THIS MUST BE OK BECAUSE A BLACK MAN IS SAYING THESE THINGS", because it was pointing out the hypocrisy of what hip-hop stations are doing.

Please acknowledge THAT PART first.

mostb1, is worrying about dj's getting fired all you got going on? If it is, sad existence if you ask me.

Give me a break. You are 100% incorrect. They have TOTAL control and created the classless, disgusting bit. It has to do with GLORIFYING and LAUGHING at RAPE.

I am VERY pleased that CBS has stepped up to the plate twice and done the right thing. As previously posted in this thread, I believe, they should be on it faster, though. They need to not be waiting as many days or weeks as they are since the "problem" is going to fester, just like it did to Imus and Elvis and JV. CBS and XM now need to fire Opie and Anthony for their vile, disgusting bit.

You're the one 100% incorrect.

Speaking of 100% incorrect. The jist of the joke was not about a rape. It was about a drunken bum talking crap.

If it was about someone laughing at a rape that ocurred, then I would agree with you on firings. Otherwise, the humor was tasteless but it was made to a PAYING audience.

Got Freedom?
