In the NYC area we had a K-Rock (92.3 WXRK) & K-Joy (98.3 WKJY)......We also at one time had a K-Rock & G-Rock (106.3 WHTG-FM)....We still have 2 "Star" branded stations (99.1 WAWZ & 99.9 WEZN) that can be heard in the NYC metro but since they target different areas and different formats both don't seem to mind.

And When 96.7 moves into NYC .. You'll hear K-Love in parts of NYC.

Wait I thought K-LOVE is a chain of LP Religious stations in California from Napa, Sacramento to San Jose.

K-Love is a nationwide network of everything from translators to 100,000 Watt Class C FMs nationwide that is based in California...

K-Love used to have a flagship station in Napa at 89.9 fm before the Classical music station KDFC took over that frequency.

In Dallas we first had KLVU, then when the call letters became available KLUV. Early on they were "Love Radio 98.7." For at least 20 years they've been 98.7 K-LUV playing oldies and now evolving with the format to something that's probably close to K-HITS (since they are both CBS stations).

I think the first major "love" station in a major market was KLVE 107.5 in Los Angeles. Of course Sr. Eduardo could fill us in on that one.

But the headquarters or main area is in the Napa/Sonoma Wine Country.

KLVE was always called "Kay-Love" from the mid-70's date when PSA (the airline, not the community announcement) gave the soft AC format that name. The station went Spanish a few years later, and the new owners were too cheap to change calls, just adding "Radio Amor" to the "K-Love" name.

CBS' very successful oldies, er classic hits, station in Dallas is indeed KLUV "98.7 K-Love". And it has been known as that for many years. Which brings up an interesting case of copyright infringement: what does EMF do when they enter a market where there's already a station which uses the K-Love identifier?
