K-Mozart is back on 1260

kinda funny/ironic that they say that... while a different format, KJZZ 88.1 is programmed/managed by Global Jazz, Inc.... which is headed by Saul Levine and i guarentee they ask for donations
KKJZ is "listener supported". Cal State Long Beach owns the station, and until a couple of years ago the studio was still on campus. I believe it's co-located with KKGO.

Ah, yes. I grew up watching reruns of all that stuff.

Disney, too. Particularly Fantasia (and the sequel Fantasia 2000). I especially like the Sorcerer's Apprentice feature.

This station is getting more posts than it has listeners on AM 1260.

Possibly more than have ever listened to 1260. Not that Saul would care one way or another since (as has been discussed previously) it's his personal station.

if I was in a financial position to likewise own a station without having to worry about covering expenses, I would too.

Many people would do the same

I'm not sure whether I would do that. Part of the emotional reward in running a successful station is having it achieve a high audience level and being "sold out".

But that's you, David. I (and assumedly other fellow posters) would be happier with a small modest-sized, loyal cadre of listeners whose tastes mostly aligned with mine. Their comments, critiques and praise would mean much more than the random comments of random listeners.

The emotional reward comes in running a successful station with a big audience and makes money. The comments from listeners are equally satisfying to those who run a station with the music they like. Listener comments are only part of the reward. The art of programming for the masses and reaching them, the reward of a financially successful venture and the listener comments are the full package. The worst is crickets. I've experienced both.
