K-ROCK TO RETURN AGAIN???

I usually don't post on the NY board, but while I was reading the WXRK Wikipedia, this spotted my eye:

K-Rock will return

CBS Radio says that they might bring back K-Rock in December. They will try to bring it in September. They will say the announcement in June if K-Rock will return. On the bottom of the K-Rock 2 website http://krockradio.com/pages/4126061.php it directly says Coming Soon 92.3 Now FM on HD2. So most likely K-Rock will return.

Is this a WikiHOAX or is this actually true? I don't know many stations that just give up after a few months on the air...

I'm sure the same thing is said for WHTG that G-Rock will return too.

Which K-Rock? I hope its not the trash that recently made my ears bleed. If this is the old K-rock pre 2005, or the origional NY ROck radio ala 1996, I'm all for it!

Would be nice if they brought in people dedicated to the Alt. Rock format. No more great rock, classic rock, mainstream rocks, crossover rock.

They could be the eastern version of KROQ but it will need time to grow.

I'm not seeing it - when I click your link all I see is Listen to Now FM on 92.3 FM HD1 and K-Rock Radio on 92.3 FM HD2

Although the home page for K-Rock states:
The K-Rock HD internet stream will be down for the greater part of the day. We’ve moved the ON AIR and broadcast equipment downtown, baby!
We’ll be back to normal as soon as possible.

Also, Now FM in Las Vegas is flipping to Coyote Country...

It was there yesterday...

What's so strange about that? WXRK-HD2 is "on air," isn't it?

No, I saw it, too - yesterday at the bottom of the K-Rock HD2 page there was a message in italics saying that coming soon, K-Rock to 92.3 and Now-FM to HD-2... or something like that.

They changed it sometime between yesterday and today, so it must've not supposed to have been there.

Or they changed it once they realized that someone caught on and may spoil the surprise. Has any station really announced a format change six months in advance?

On a different note Howard Stern mentioned on his show he only has a year and a half left on his Sirius contract. He even said he may want to be a music DJ once he retires. Not that this has any relevance. Just speculating.

WHOA! How weird! The link doesn't show the "NOW 92.3 HD 2 Coming Soon" anymore! Maybe just a typo on the K-Rock site? Although, I have a good feeling that if NOW's numbers don't improve, K-Rock will return. Just look at how RXP's numbers have improved when K-Rock left! They match the same exact audience cume in 12+! The reason why K-Rock's cume went down when it returned to New York was because 1. No Stern, 2. Butt Rock All Day! K-Rock would do a lot better if a real alternative format was on the 92.3 frequency. After all, New York is the breeding ground for a lot of cutting edge alternative bands! (MGMT, TV On The Radio, Vampire Weekend etc.) What they're doing on HD 2 right now is amazing!

I'd hardly call RXP going from a 1.3 to a 1.5 an "improvement." That being said, K-Rock was a train wreck and was doing no better than NOW in the ratings. If it were to return, however, I agree that they should give the "K-Rock 2" format a shot. It sounds a lot better than the "real" 92.3 ever sounded.

It would be really interesting to look at K-rocks ratings outside Opie and Anthony. My theory is that the majority of the 1.5 ratings K-Rock had consisted of the 3 hours of O&A.

All I can say is that the alternative format has been missing in New York since 2007! If LA shows great numbers in the PPM for alternative, why doesn't anyone in New York believe in the format? There used to be a cluster of alternative stations in the '90s! The reason why I believe no one does this is because how people believe that the alternative format is demising. But the reason behind this is because of the lack of new music and the recurrents that are being played on the stations. New York needs alternative and CBS would make a great move by moving K-Rock HD 2 to 92.3. NY doesn't have an alternative station but it already has many urban formatted radio stations. That's also one of the reasons why I believe that NOW hasn't improved much in the ratings. New York already has stations that play a good portion of what NOW does. And the sad thing is that NOW does it worse than any other station. I personally feel that they have no clue what they're doing in NY or who they're targeting! It's seemed that CBS is trying to just avoid the K-Rock format from New York but NY really does need it.

If Now doesn't get going might the next format be 92.3 The FAN. Sports format will soon be coming to 106.7 WJFK in Washington D.C. plus CBS has sports stations on FM.

I Don't Live N NYC I Would Done Not Rhythmic Leaning Because It Not Popular In NYC But Would Go Head To Head With WHTZ FM Top 40 But With Less commericals Here In LA Do Well In The Rating (Amp Radio) Because They Went After KIIS They Look What Was Popular In LA Market
