Well you got my attention with this post. I will comment here for the first time on something that has been upsetting me for a while. I have filed a few complaints with the FCC and to this date, nothing has been done. This group is so illegal I'm surprised they aren't feeding K269FD over an internet feed. The owners according to the FCC are ISSAC RUIZ MORA, SAMUEL RUIZ MORA, FELIX FERNANDO RUIZ AND OFELIA MORA DE RUIZ. The station's moniker is Radio Ola. They claim they are feeding two translators in San Antonio (K229BJ and K222BS) off KTNR 92.1 in Kenedy, TX. That's 71.52 miles away. There is no way KTNR makes it this far into San Antonio but yet they are still claiming this is the primary station for all their translators. Yeah right! They don't even have studios in Kenedy. Their studios are here in San Antonio on 601 NW Loop 410 Suite 103. It looks like they are now trying to make an attempt to be a little less illegal (after 6 months) by not only having a San Antonio number but now they have a toll free number and they have since applied with the FCC to change KTNR from a Commercial to a Non Commercial station. (I don't know how this is going to work for them since they have so many commercials on the San Antonio translators and even their website is full of "advertise with us" banners) I'm just amazed and baffled how they have continued to operate like this without getting busted by the FCC. If you're here in San Antonio, tune in and listen to them. They promote 93.7 and 105.9 (the two translators) as being their main radio stations and even encourage listeners to call in and stop by their studios here in San Antonio. I'm pretty sure they are transmitting illegally also. K229BJ is licensed on ASR 1008663 yet there are no FM antennas on that tower. In fact, the translator barely even comes in at all at that site. You have to drive further south into San Antonio before the station gets stronger. And the footprint of the signal is so huge I highly doubt they are pumping out 62 Watts (what they are licensed for). They are not the only translators here in San Antonio broadcasting illegally but since this post is about this group I will not mention the others (for now).
