If you have a walkman going around town, KBPA HD buzz kills K276EL I had to put it on 103.0 to get anything just to see how the station came in.
I've noticed this as well driving near Kyle. I can hear the hash on 103.1 and 103.9. Granted I am very close to the tower, but you shouldn't be hearing the hash bleed over like that. Another station that does this is KLTN in Houston. They kill KJOJ inside the loop.

KBPA uses separate antenna for IBOC. Probably puts more IBOC close in than if it were from the main antenna. The fix:
Receiver IF bandwidth too wide...get a better radio.

I don't think the problem is my radio. It does pretty well for the most part. In College Station, I can catch a mix of KXTN and KHTC with KAPN right besides it (107.3). Also been able to catch KHMX, KTBZ, and KODA in San Marcos almost every other day. KLTN is a daily catch at night. The problem is IBOC. It just doesn't work.

KLJA used to be listenable in San Marcos, but when KXTN fired up their IBOC, it pretty much killed KLJA. Same goes for KISS-FM and it killing the 99.7 KLBJ translator. The sad part is that the IBOC hash is strong enough to blanket other stations, but not strong enough to be coded by my HD radio. Pretty good strategy if you plan on blocking out your competition, but last I checked KLJA and KXTN were not competitors.

This is what the coverage area approximately looked like for KROX when it was licensed to Giddings, TX. 100 KW @ 299 Meters.

Does anyone know if this antenna site is now abandoned or not? Is there another station currently using this antenna?

No stations or translators come up with that location, although the tower still shows up on a Google map search. A check of the FCC's tower site registration page doesn't show a listing for the tower at all.

Look closer. I found the coordinates from an old application.

Then the correct coordinates should be 29-57-01N 97-22-14.0W (NAD 83), revealing ASR#1052664. Using that info, it corresponds with a 311 meter tower constructed in 1984 and currently owned by Bastrop County; Emmis sold it to them in 2003. So without having to take a trip out there I guess we can assume it's still standing and being used for communications purposes, not broadcast.

why did they downgrade from 100kw to the current 12.5kw?

KROX's move short-spaced a longtime class C on 101.5 in Brownwood. IIRC-- They still had to get the Brownwood station to move over a notch to make KROX's move into the Austin metro possible.

I hope the pdf works. Page 2

In my car driving up from San Marcos around 10pm last night, 103.1 KHHL ESPN Deportes was killing K276EL from San Marcos all the way to William Cannon. KHHL was coming in clear as a bell in San Marcos and Kyle, but by the time I arrived to Buda, it was choppy but still dominant.

Usually, KHHL dies at least by Yarrington Road/I-35 in north San Marcos, and K276EL starts to come in somewhat clear in Kyle.

Yeah, last night was interesting to say the least. A lot of Houston stations coming in. KROM was nowhere to be seen in San Marcos.
