K31GL APPLIES FOR RF-33

JHBrandt said:
K31GL is my favorite LP station, and the lower antenna could make receiving them quite a challenge at my home, which would be near the fringe of their new, smaller coverage area.

K31GL is still on channel 31, and I don't see any new applications at the FCC's TV query page, but over the weekend their signal strength at my home dropped drastically. They're now right at the margins, but neigboring channels KMPX, KDAF, and KJJM-LD are still strong. Has K31GL gone ahead and moved to the new antenna?

Where I live, K31GL has been a solid but since July, they are gone. Now I only receive them via Tropo.

21 just ran a banner to rescan for a new "stronger transmission signal" on 21. "Just re-scan your TVor digital converter box". Or, rescan 2 TVs, 3 DTV boxes, and one DTVPal DVR, then go through all of them (again) to delete all the unwanted channels. Only takes me an hour or so to go through all of them. I hope they are done moving things around for a while.

Heck of a note.. Ch 11, after re-scanning, is still on VHF.

My Zenith converter box now has TWO Ch 11.1s! One obviously still on VHF since it is 100% signal like before and the other UHF at about 85%. I didn't know that was possible. My Sony TV didn't do that, just locked on to the VHF only.

My Magnavox only locked to the UHF and when I go to turn it on "Weak Signal Installation", it shows up as 11 and 19. Then it locks up.

Just noticed my Sony TV has the UHF 11.1 on Ch 19. In NW Dallas-Farmers Branch getting about 82% sig strength on UHF compared to 100% on VHF.

EARTHQUAKE WARNING FOR TARRANT COUNTY!!!! CBS 11 TV JUST RAN A BANNER SAYING THEY HAD A MAL FUNCTION WITH ITS EAS SYSTEM!!!! epic fail.

The joint petition for rulemaking filed by KTVT/KTXA states (in footnote 5) that KTVT will simultaneously operate on both the RF-11 and RF-19 channels as an interim measure.

Shortly after change happened at 1100 this date, here's what else was noted:

1). The PSIP information for KTXA (now on RF-18) is transposed, showing the callsign of ``KXTA'' [sic].

2). In addition to being present on RF-11 and RF-19, KTVT is also on 21-2 (RF-18). So that gives viewers three shots at receiving KTVT.

So basically makes KTVT a rimshot?

Looks like they turned off 21.2. Wish they'd just go ahead and kill RF 11 so these re-scans can cease for a while.

Had not looked at Ch 6 in a while, haven't locked it out yet after today's rescan, noticed they are stuck, looks like the program is locked up! And I am seeing some pretty strong co-channel interference coming in on top of it from an unknown source.

There will be another involving the CBS cluster at some unknown point in the future. That's when KTXA (or per the transposed PSIP banner, ``KXTA'') moves to its final destination of RF-29, pending approval and then the construction. Recall that KTXA's current use of RF-18 is an interim measure.

You know, it's the darndest thing: something like this happens, I complain on this board, and the next time I check, shazam! It's fixed! K31GL was barely receivable for three solid days and now today, it's fine. Do the station engineers read this forum?

Now channel 50 is gone! But now that I've mentioned it here, it'll undoubtedly be back tomorrow.

Well, of all the.... I just rechecked and K31GL is back down to the bare margins again! Perhaps they're testing the new, lower antenna at night but running on the old, higher antenna during the daytime?

Maybe it's interference from another station on channel 31.

I noticed that 50 up and disappeared on me too. I've had NO trouble getting it before. Are they off the air for some reason?

50 probably could'nt afford the cost of keeping up a transmitter.
