uhhhh....is this actual fact or your assumption?

It depends on how much 9-volt battery power I still have remaining in my transistor radio from 1967.Michael Rivers Kramer said:If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

2 - (assuming the oldies are 1950s-60s) competing with nobody.
3 - competing with KBRT, KKLA and (to a lesser extent) KFSH.
Give me some time to think about this. (Which will also give Michael and David time to show me statistics that a sports format would give KABC more of the highly-coveteed "young male" demos than the other two formats. Oh yeah, I have those two guys all figured out.)

What "highly-coveted 'young male' demo" dost thou speak of? I'm 32 (and single) - am I in the "right" age bracket? However, I maybe have all of several hundred bucks to my name and very limited income (courtesy a disability that I'm not going into on here), so would that take me out of their "market" since I don't make 13+ figures an hour?![]()
BTW when listening to a few baseball games (Giants, Angels, Padres, Dodgers) recently, or Dave Ramsey (on KXNT) or a couple midday weekend talk shows on KFI, I've observed quite a few ads for getting out of deep debt, curing ED (back to back with an abstinence ad targetting teens - go figure!), combatting hair loss, etc - mostly things that I would not be in the market for. (At least not yet - I will say that I think I have more gray hair now (runs in family) than my foster grandpa (my mom lived with him & his wife for 12 years) had when he died at 89 a few years ago.)
When not listening to the specific above shows or DXing, I probably have recently been listening to Family Radio (except when Harold C comes on, unless he's doing the Bible reading program) and Radio Disney the most. I'd add 40s-60s oldies (my favorites being the somewhat slow triplet-based (or maybe it's 12/8 time for those with music knowledge) songs, an example being Dean Martin's "In The Chapel In The Moonlight" - what's that style called?), but the only stations I know of that I have heard with that format, now that KYAA is Catholic, are skywaves on graveyard channels.
So what demo, if not based on my age and gender, would someone like me be in?![]()

I know they wouldn't do it but how about an actual LIVE morning and afternoon drive show with Rome on in the middays.
I know people say LA is not a sports radio market but if you put on a show in the morning that mixes Hot talk, rock radio & sports type shows then you'll get both casual and hardcore sports fans.
a duo with a strong producer who can do some in show production of bits would work well and I think LA sports fans would gravitate to a local morning and strong afternoon drive show instead of everything being piped in nationally.

That could go either way. There's no advantage to the KABC calls and no tie to the ABC network. On the other hand, if they brand the station with a name and use call letters once an hour for a legal ID, it really doesn't matter if those call letters stay.

Wouldn't Disney have something to say about that? I thought Cumulus was paying The Mickey Mouse Outfit for the right to use the KABC (and WABC, WLS, and the other ex-ABC O&O stations they own) call letters. Besides, if KABC switched to CBS Sports Radio, call letters would be pretty much irrelevant anyway other than once-an-hour the legal ID.
