Kaley O'Kelley moves to KTVK

Even Rochester NY, which was a 50-something market back in the day (now 80) had a more serious attitude to their newscast, but I think that's a northern thing. The weather here is much sunnier and so is the disposition of your average person IMO. The news just reflects that. It was a culture shock watching Dewey Hopper for the first time in 1983 - I wasn't used to newspeople clowning around like that - even weather forecasters (especially weather forecasters for those familiar with Rochester - I was used to John Hambleton.)

Also, Phoenix is a young #12 market. Ten years ago, they were #18 and IIRC, a 40-something market in 1970, barely a generation ago. This area still thinks it's small-town.
 
More drama:

On 24 August Scott Pasmore & Javier Soto open the show. April Warnecke is not feeling well and won't be on TV. Scott does the weather. Tara Hitchcock comes rolling in at 5:55 AM. Scott brings up that he was solo (anchor) on Friday 21 August. Tara says she feels bad and would have came in if she knew. Was the producer scared to call her? I don't know who did the weather for Good Day or Good Evening Arizona.

Brittney Shipp did the 9:00 PM weather for Royal Norman. I really wanted Kaley O'Kelley to be on GMAZ so Tara could take another day off.

Susan Casper who this morning informed us that a tropical storm that is south of Hawaii and moving west might bring us a chance of showers this weekend.
 
Yesterday, Susan informed us that the dewpoint was 55 "percent"! But, at least, her presentation is smooth and doesn't sound like she's just reading the weather...
 
I was surprised to see that Susan Casper was doing morning weather. I agree that she was smooth and put a little feeling into her reports. She always seems energetic. Read her bio on ABC15.com and she did a lot of good work in the Tampa market. I think she would make a good replacement on Daybreak and Sonoran Living.
