Maybe CSN will come out with a music service.... "Mike Harrison's Jukebox: The Best Hit's of the 60's and 70's".

The first song to be played? ELO's "Telephone Line" in honor of the way it is delivered to affiliate stations....

KASR is a pimple on the posterior of Conway radio much less Little Rock...

they are running a thing called Good Time Oldies Magazine over and over is that a format name or a show name?

You know everybody is always "downing" or "ridiculing" him constantly.

I worked for the man for six (6) years! He taught me a lot about radio, including sports play-by-play, and other things as well.

I have been able to take those lessons and become successful in my own right. Working in Little Rock, Kansas City and other smaller markets around the country. I have also worked for three (3) network radio groups as well.

Mostly, from what I learned from Mike Harrison.

Mike was lucky to get 92.7FM on the air back in 1984. FM frequencies were starting to dry up around Little Rock. When Mike bought KVEE (AM) 1330 in Conway for $250,000; I thought that was expensive for that time. The FM was already sold off from the AM. That FM became KMJX (FM) 105.1 (a.k.a. Magic 105).

YES... Mike has done various formats from Country, Adult Contemporary, All Sports and possibly others; but, he hasn't wavered from one thing... bringing local radio to Conway and Faulkner County.

Yeah... us radio bloggers on this site would love to have a crack at the new 25,000 watt signal he has now; wider coverage... but, still concentrating on Conway and Faulkner County.

In my opinion, Mike made a good choice in ending the "All Sports" format and going with Oldies. KCNY 107.1 FM will be good competition for Mike locally; but, since KCNY is doing Country; this is why Mike chose to do Oldies. I think Mike would have preferred to do Country; but, this is the path of least resistance.

So, give the man credit for something. He hasn't sold out to the Clear Channels and Citadels in the world. But, is trying to keep the localism alive in Conway and Faulkner County.

If he's trying to keep localism alive, then why is he planning to move the studios to downtown Little Rock and blow off Conway? Or did he change his mind?

Did he ever get 1330 back on the air? I thought the license would have expired as a matter of law (silent over a year).

I am not aware of that.

I would think that the license is still valid; have you ever heard of STA's. The FCC is little bit understanding when the tower site property is purchased out from under you for a Lowe's and you have no place to go to. However, from what I understand from him is that when the FM is fully moved to the new site (which it is now) that the AM would move to the former FM site off of U.S. 65 near Pickles Gap.
