KAZG/KSLX

What?...and have McDonalds downsize the live DJ who hangs his speakers atop the golden arches? Not good for the economy!

I was kidding (sort of) as a real live DJ would be a huge asset. However, the times I've been there (half a dozen over the past 2 years) I don't remember hearing a live DJ.

Nurse Jeff and I believe the highest and best use of Lumberyard 14~Forty is the market's 43rd Spanish language station...or it's 27th colon-blower! Is there anyone under the age of 70 that listens to music on AM anymore?

I'm not 70.....yet. ;D

KDUS is not loosing money it makes money.. 1440 and 100.7 have the same engineer who is an awesome engineer and person

The engineer at KSLX is one of the most devoted and hard-working in the business. I worked with him for over ten years and he was always available for any problem. Never complained once. His dedication keeps 100.7 on and rockin'.

Then why does he ignore the sloppy sign-ons/sign-offs
on Lumberyard 1440? Drifting lamptimer, no legal ID,
that sort of stuff.

Or is he being "encouraged" to look the other way by
Gumpdusky management?

Of course, one person cannot speak for the actions of another person. What I suggest you do is write an email or letter to the station. A much faster way, give the station a call during business hours. I'm speaking mainly for his work on KSLX that I witnessed. Does that make sense to you? Thanks!

The K-Slacks website has a "contact us" page on which
one of the choices is the C.E. I sent one or more messages
months ago and nothing has changed.

Being a new poster here on the (former) Tanim Board, you
may want to read up on all the past threads concerning
KAZG, aka Lumberyard 1440.

BTW, has KSLX ever fixed their TOH ID? I haven't heard
it for a while, but it should be KSLX-FM Scottsdale*
(/Phoenix/Bozeman/North Platte/whatever) and the "-FM"
suffix was not being included. I'm pretty sure I mentioned
this also in comments sent via the website page.

maybe it's time for a massive board mailing about the lamptimer induced power alien.

For us in ND, we somewhow aren't hitting blowtorch/flyzapper power until 7:17A. This has sparked a few e-mails to the station and owner. I guess our listeners love that 50kw of KY instead of 400w or 9.9kw of it.

Even though Arby-tron offers the encoders free of charge, Nurse Jeff and I doubt Lumberyard 14~Forty will install the equipment so they can be rated when PPM kicks in next year. What's the point? For as long as we can remember Arizona Gold has never shown in the ratings. And if Gumpdusky can't get the lamptimer to fire correctly, what makes them think they can get the encoder working?

I hate to bust your lamptimer but the power change is done by an old dos based PC hooked up to a burke remote control..

Yet another revelation into the inner workings at Lumberyard 1440.

Sounds logical--free running internal PC clocks are notorious for drifting.

If it wasn't a lamptimer I figured they got someone from the lumberyard
to come over with a 2x4 and whack the side of the XMTR to turn it off.
Of course that might tick off PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of
Ampliphases). ;D

Or maybe they just knock three times on the ceiling in the morning...
twice on the pipe at night.

Up north here we have a Sine systems remote on both the matchsticks and the FM station.

Now all that needs to be done is getting it calibrated. ??? (time of day)
Too bad grumpdusky can't seem to bring the stations to at least 1990's tech.

This could start a topic bigger than Jim Sharpe Has Left The Building: Lamptimer Songs - the Lumberyard 14~Forty Collection! Nurse Jeff and I put our heads together for at least 10 seconds and came up with these superhits:

...Time won't let me

...Right Time, wrong place

...It's the Time of the season

...Gimme just a little more Time

...Does anybody really know what Time it is?

Time Is On My Side......

25 or 6 to Four......

In The Year 2525.....

The Time It Is Today.....

The Twelfth of Never.....

Third Time Lucky.....

This Time......

Time In A Bottle.....

and.....Time Passages......

DOS-based PC?!?!?!? A lamptimer would work better. ;D

So I am to assume that the system date & time are still set to Jan 1, 1980 at 12:00 midnight? :D

Who are you talking to in this post ? If it's me, I worked with the engineer at 100.7 for over ten years. I worked with him infrequently on 1440 as well.

Oh Evan, you old fuddy-duddy. DO you really believe this is about you. Come on, no need for the paranoia. You mean you worked in the same building as the engineer? Gee, oh golly!

Dr. Akbar and Nurse Jeff... are you two still keeping track of this? I mentioned "Time in a Bottle" and the "if I could make days last forever" line several months ago.

Now dig this one... I'm convinced The Miracles' song "Love Machine" is about KAZG!

I'm gentle as a lamb
I'm not that hard to program
There's no way that you can lose...
...If you look into my power
I am sure you can find out how
To turn me on just set my dial
And let me love you for a little while

Shocking, right?

YIKES! Could those guys in pink suits be the geniuses behind Gumpdusky? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGXSRISBu3Y Sure make all the moves for a bunch of old farts!

To borrow a line from the late Don La Fontaine...In a world where lamptimers drift and no one can figure out how to give a frickin' legal ID, comes LUMBERYARD 14~Forty! Rated R for ridiculous use of an AM facility. No one under 55 listens.....er, make that No One Listens!

Dr.

I think Don Lafontaine would have done that one at a reduced rate.

It's awesome. :D
