It is good to hear Clear Channel Communications is leaving the Bakersfield Market. This broadcast company never has and never will understand the Bakersfield Market. Look what they did to KKXX after purchase from Mondosphere Broadcasting. KKXX while at 105.3, owned by Mondosphere, and directed by Steve Wall was one of the highest rated radio stations in the United States. Then Clear Channel took over with thier cookie cutter "Kiss FM" format. Please, this is not Los Angeles. Bakersfield radio heritage goes back to the KKXX and KUZZ days when both stations were owned by Buck Owens Broadcating. As far as KBKO, we all knew they wouldnt last. Clear Channel just kept whipping this dead horse far too long. It has already been tried in the past with KAMM 105.3, for example. KUZZ and KCWR will always dominate the Country Music format in this area. You have to be from this area to understand that. American General Media now holds the KKXX call letters and calls the station "Pirate Radio", another cookie cutter jack FM format that is short lived. This so called "Pirate Radio" is the station that is second from the bottom of the ratings list, KBKO being at the bottom.
