Well, well, well.whaddya know? They DID pick a winner! AND gave away the $10k too! (never mind that the winner was an iHM AE...)
Kiss has its new leader: https://www.allaccess.com/net-news/...s-106-1-kiss-fm-seattle-names-jared-fallon-pd
Welcome to Seattle, Jared. And good luck.
This whole thing has screamed of a bad version of an 80’s style CHR war, complete with horrid smack talk and a fake contest. Only problem is, unlike 1989, most people aren’t interested in being involved in a budget format war...audience and staff alike.
And once again, "KISS FM" has been dropped from all on-air liners, DJ Scripts, etc. Just simply 106.1 and "Under Construction". They are making much of handful of songs 'that other station isn't playing', heard a VERY tight playlist in the few hours I sampled today. The KISS FM name is still on the Web Site.
Once again? I don't think that's changed since at least the middle of March if not quite a bit before. And once again, "KISS FM" has been dropped from all on-air liners, DJ Scripts, etc. Just simply 106.1 and "Under Construction". This just weird. It’s November 22nd, 2019. They still called themselves 106.1 and no mentions of “KISS-FM”. The only “KISS-FM” is their website and their cookie clutter I-heart KISS-FM CHR logos.
Well didn't they have a 2.2 last PPM? I wonder if iHeart knows they will never be a Movin and they are just trying to give up on the 106.1 brand. Which is why I wish KISS IS DEAD would have actually resulted in a real flip of format...
Looking at the three summer months, July-Aug-Sep, the station is 3rd in 18-34. It billed, last year, within a tiny percentage of difference, about the same as KQMV.
Why blow up nearly $8 million in billing, incur startup costs, and lose the 7th or 8th rank in market billing? It would take two or three years to make up the loss.

Not only would I like an answer to Ford's question above, but if iHeart is as committed to CHR at 106.1, then why have they essentially been running without a branding for over a year? A friend of mine said a DJ threw in an under construction reference just recently. Whatever they're building had better be good if they're keeping this thing a secret for so long.
