KBKS Stunting, Bender out

If I had a buck for every time I've heard "New!" mentioned in association with a several year-old radio format adjustment, I'd at least have a hundred dollars.

This station is garbage and the moves iHeart made with 93.3 and 106.1 have proven to be for naught. Both stations on a combined basis now have weaker ratings than when 93.3 was "Power" and 106.1 was Hot AC.

The Hot AC format of KBKS should've been left intact. 93.3 should've been tweaked but not overhauled.

As a matter of fact, I’d suggest not to rent...get an extended stay apartment. When everything tanks in 5 months, no expensive lease encumbering you to stick around or buy out from landlord.

This whole thing has screamed of a bad version of an 80’s style CHR war, complete with horrid smack talk and a fake contest. Only problem is, unlike 1989, most people aren’t interested in being involved in a budget format war...audience and staff alike.

Agreed.

Funny too how iHeart is still sending checks to Bender.

And once again, "KISS FM" has been dropped from all on-air liners, DJ Scripts, etc. Just simply 106.1 and "Under Construction". They are making much of handful of songs 'that other station isn't playing', heard a VERY tight playlist in the few hours I sampled today. The KISS FM name is still on the Web Site.

Hmmmmm?
Channel 106.1 in our future, ala 93.3 San Diego? Or something else? They are still quite lost, in my opinion. They may have gained back some PPM points but 92.5 is laughing all the way to the bank...

Movin' has a tighter playlist than Kiss.

Kiss has left its name off for months. Maybe the new Kiss PD incoming from Philly will have different ideas, yet doubtful New York will let him do much outside of babysitting the new morning show.

Once again? I don't think that's changed since at least the middle of March if not quite a bit before.

This just weird. It’s November 22nd, 2019. They still called themselves 106.1 and no mentions of “KISS-FM”. The only “KISS-FM” is their website and their cookie clutter I-heart KISS-FM CHR logos.

Full power class C signal covering market #12... and this is it? It seems like they might want to be a little more creative or innovative if they want to challenge the big boys at KQMV.

Well didn't they have a 2.2 last PPM? I wonder if iHeart knows they will never be a Movin and they are just trying to give up on the 106.1 brand. Which is why I wish KISS IS DEAD would have actually resulted in a real flip of format...

Looking at the three summer months, July-Aug-Sep, the station is 3rd in 18-34. It billed, last year, within a tiny percentage of difference, about the same as KQMV.

Why blow up nearly $8 million in billing, incur startup costs, and lose the 7th or 8th rank in market billing? It would take two or three years to make up the loss.

Just to play devils advocate for one quick minute: wouldn't that same paradigm apply to the old KMPS 94.1 and KKWF 100.7? I wasn't privy to the exact breakdown of how KMPS was billing prior to their switch to "The Sound," but from the information that other RD members have provided, it sounds like KMPS wasn't significantly behind "The Wolf" in terms of billing. Nevertheless, Entercom still elected to re-launch the station as "The Sound," even though they could have theoretically kept 94.1 the same.

Not only would I like an answer to Ford's question above, but if iHeart is as committed to CHR at 106.1, then why have they essentially been running without a branding for over a year? A friend of mine said a DJ threw in an under construction reference just recently. Whatever they're building had better be good if they're keeping this thing a secret for so long.

Well you should get on the phone right now and call Bob Pittman as how dare he keep this information secret.
