KCGC 94.5 Coarsegold

OK - So what you are saying is that Verne White - owner of KYAF 94.7 in Firebaugh has an "un-licensed" FM station - also on 94.7 operating from his Home - somewhere in Clovis - but only operates on the weekends ?? I do agree that Fresno is in need of a good Oldies station.

Yes.

Caught the station just outside of Patterson today. Decent reach to the north, but coming across Nees from I-5, signal seemed weaker the closer to Fresno...

Same ol mix of country and rock.

Sure could use something decent on the air.

Interesting... I caught it farther north, Westley (and Mt. Oso). It seemed to hold it's own through Patterson & Turlock, (some "splatter" from 94.3 in that area). Not too much intrusion from KBAY. Seemed to be pretty solid near Delhi & Livingston, and passed the "scan" test where the radio would stop at 94.5 without manual tuning. Once again modulation & processing quality was good with mostly a quiet carrier during pauses. Once again elevation with line of site prevails over brute force power on the ground. - Sure would like to hear how much this signal encroaches on KGEN, Fresno south. - Anyone?

I'm wondering if different site possibilities are being tested. I didn't listen for it on Thursday-I did catch it late Wed., about midnight on my bedside Sangean PRD5. It was rough copy- but I didn't give it much of an effort and it seemed an inversion layer the last couple of nights made KGEN stronger than usual - then I totally forgot to check 94.5 on Thursday :(
Per the Rice-Longly predictions, there is a great difference between the licensed xmitter site and the CP site. The CP site going much further north and west than the licensed site. Both give similar coverage to the south and are both cut off sharply by terrain to the east, thus a line roughly along, say Clovis Ave. is cut off to the east.
I wish I had remembered to check it on Thursday. I just don't don't know how credible my Wed. midnight reception was. It was not really listenable- which is contrary to the other two tests I heard, last fall and then again a month or two ago.
The licensed site is cut off very sharply to the North. It doesn't even hit Madara, so we can assume that one is out as a contender. I just hope what I heard Wed. nite was not indicative of what to expect here in Sunnyside.

ALLACCESS.COM says licensee has filed with the FCC for Special Temporary Authority to keep KCGC silent. Financial difficulties.

Very Strange !!! This station is for sale CHEAP -- yet the owner has filed to toss some more money into the new FM auction. Must not have lost his whole suit yet !!!!.

EMF Bought it

SPANISH PEAKS BROADCASTING, INC. is selling silent KCGC/COARSEGOLD, CA to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION for $260,000 ($160,000 in a promissory note).

Oh great!!! Just what we needed in the valley, another overlapping signal of K-Love or Air-1.

I bet it doesn't take them long to get it on the air either. Already driving up the valley there is one K-love station after another on the FM dial. EMF there is more to broadcast than just CCM ya know! Oh I get it, more stations more donations to line up and buy even more stations in order to get even more donations to buy even more stations in order to get even more donations in order to buy even more stations! When is enough, enough? Give someone else a shot at doing something with some of these stations already.

Yea, I heard the rumor... I was hoping it was un-true. I wonder where the rest of that non-profit money is going? Race cars? Oh well, boycott, listen to some other K-Love or Air-1 frequency that'll show 'em! :p

Wondering why it's been so quiet? Me too! Rumor has it, that the EMF sale "fell through", no go. Oh what will we do? :D

Driving through Madera Monday, sounded as if Spanish was on unless KGEN was coming through all too strong.

That's summer conditions - it is KGEN you're hearing.
I'm wondering how 'true' these "rumors" are- re: EMF/KCGC and KGED/Jim Patterson.

Today's FCC report shows the sale went through- "with conditions" - I wonder what that means.

E 94.5 MHZ COARSEGOLD, CA From: SPANISH PEAKS BROADCASTING, INC.

Granted With Conditions

I wonder what these conditions are, EMf already covers the valley with overlapping signals for K-love in Madera 91.1 and Selma 88.5, maybe it's going to be Air-One, and they have to use the most northern site between Mariposa and Oakhurst, being that 106.3 Kingsburg already well serves Fresno County and south.
