KCOR now KXTN (AM)

And the petition had nothing to do with KISS flipping back to rock. Adams filed Chapter 11, and KISS had been hemorrhaging red ink the entire time it owned it. The rock format declined badly after Adams bought it from Capitol, and oldies only performed slightly better. Rusk took KISS over in one of the first LMA's and flipped its format to get it out of competition with KSMG.

Thanks for the clarification. I was really young but I remember the outcry from the KISS listeners

Initially, it was KSAQ “Q-96” that took over the rock format after KISS switched to oldies as “96 Rock.” It also picked up some of the former KISS jocks, though all of them went back to KISS after Rusk brought it back.

KISS, like a lot of heritage AOR's, started to decline and had a bloated payroll. It declined earlier than most, but it was part of a larger trend. Adams also didn’t have any AOR's, and, while it had classic rockers like KZOK and WLAV, that lane had already been closed in San Antonio. KISS lost about half its audience after Adams took it over, and it didn’t have particularly good numbers in any demo. The oldies format actually never came close to the AOR format 12+, but it did slightly better 25-54 and wasn’t nearly as expensive to run.

Starting sometime around October '91, you could hear Magic 105 on 930 and 99.5 in addition to 105.3. 930 became KLUP right before Christmas, and KISS relaunched right after on 99.5. KONO had also recently taken over KFAN 101.1, and that lane was becoming a lot more crowded.
