KDKA 100.1 FM what the hell?

You would think a 100 watt light bulb but not be difficult to keep on the air givin they also run a 50,000 Watt blowtorch. But this doesn't seem the case, and it's not a new problem. It's been going on for at least a couple years. The FM translator randomly just dumps completely off the air and then comes back. This morning it's been off all morning.

Is the transmitter actually off or just the program audio is down and they are broadcasting silence?

Is 93.7 hd-2 also off?

100.1 Totally off unless the SDR somehow isn't recieving it. Also I can't get any HD radio to resolve audio. A local may be able to verify details.

IIRC they do have a construction permit. IDK if they they have a spare transmitter for the translator but if they don't then there will be silence when physically moving the only transmitter to the other tower. I doubt it will take a whole day to move that small of a transmitter if properly planned. One would think somewhere in a that in a company that big, they would have at least an exciter that they can plug into the old site's antenna.

Considering they have a backup tower for the AM... and they now announce their station as "100.1FM, AM1020 KDKA", putting the FM first... you'd think they at least have a backup transmitter for the FM. It's not like a backup transmitter for a little peashooter like their FM translator is all that expensive (relatively speaking).

Like most AM stations with translators, I can't pick up the FM worth a darn but the AM comes in loud and clear even on a pocket radio.
