KDOK 1240 is going to be sold!

Greg Branch said:
KDOK has been running Cumulus Media's Classic Hip Hop and R&B format since Feb 2011.

Knew that was the latest spin in the Wheel of Formats game with them. Didn't know if anything had changed or not. Thanks for the info!

Just saw a Facebook post that the sale has been approved by Uncle Charlie and consummation is set for 1 February.

I don't have any firm info on this, but I'm hoping by using the "All Hit Radio" positioner that Chuck is gonna go 50s-60s oldies and return the KDOK calls to her former glory.

That's great news. Now that Sunny 106.5 has flipped to Classic Hits leaning to 50's-60's and maybe a few early 70's makes good sense. Listening to KZQX's eclectic choice of music I hope to be surprised.

Let's put it this way: It will be QX-FM's alter-ego. Or maybe it's evil twin brother? ;D There will definitely be some family resemblance

;D

As of 1:23 PM 1/31, KDOK 1240 is playing The Beatles. First song was the ending of "In My Life."

Classical is still airing on 105.3 and 101.9.

105.3 is now playing the Beatles. Great way to work the "bugs" out of the new setup and introduce the station. ;D Sounds great!

Call it a "work in progress." Today wasn't easy. I real "show stopper" was a tree that had fallen over the road that goes to the transmitter site. I don't usually carry a chain saw with me but maybe I will in the future. Getting it out of the way so I could get in turned out to be quite an adventure...

Have a streaming link, Chuck?
Don't forget the fact that I know this is a brand new station so I'm expecting not. I know you're really trying over there. Congrats.

It's interesting that even though both 1240 and 105.3 are stunting and id'ing as Beatles 1240, they are not simulcasts. I guess Chuck doesn't have the link between the two transmitters completed yet.

We had a piece of equipment crap out on us, but it was important that we got the FCC's required "Pre-Filing" statements on the air at their prescribed times. February 1 is the day all Texas stations have to let their listeners know that their license is up for renewal this summer. Things should be in sync now, and 101.9 has been added too. There is still a "Ghost in the Machine," but we are working on it.

Awesome job, Chuck. With the new Sunny and KDOK, us oldies and classic hits fans in this area feel like we have died and gone to heaven.

Chuck, I had a big laugh when I heard "Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand" (the German version of "I Want To Hold Your Hand") last night.

And I suggest replacing the Duophonic versions of "She Loves You" and "I'll Get You" with mono versions. They don't sound great on AM Radio.

Good point, but 101.9 and 105.3 are stereo. It may as simple as the actual tracks I have are "hammered." Some definitely sound better than others.
