Even though it's canned, I like the music selection. Get to hear a lot of 60's and early 70's stuff that 92.1 had abandoned. And since I grew up in the 70's, listening to top 40 radio on KLUE, KLIF, WLS, XEROK, etc, to me this type of music belongs on AM.
However, I think that they are going to have to get a better signal in Tyler to survive. Any chance 690 could be resurrected? Other than that, it seems that 107.3 would be the best candidate to flip.

As much as I would want to get KZEY away from Russell, which is wishful thinking on my end, it would be awesomely great to see a change to see KDOK spread out the coverage with 690. I do not think GAP would let KISX go of their urban AC format although they were oldies from the beginning up until about near mid-1991 when Don Chaney had them.
Overall, I am very impressed that GAP finally took the initiative of putting SOMETHING on the 1240 band after 20 agonizing years of classic rock simulation from 96X. Now we can enjoy the oldies that we can all relate to.

Any new word on whats going on with KZEY? 690 would be a fine place for the True Oldies format in Tyler.
The new Gap GM ran a True Oldies station in Lufkin (KVLL, Sunny 94.7), I guess he likes the format.![]()
