The KDWN lineup has been solid for a long time. It's getting old, with the same lineup. Their best shows are the morning news and Heidi Harris.
Heidi Harris is very conservative on national and moral issues, however she does a great fast paced, entertaining show. She is spontaneous, and talks about her personal life, which is very important for any talk show. I remember her talking about taking in the stray dog from MONTHS ago.
Listening to all three hours of Doyle can be particularly tedious. He talks too fast, and covers too many subjects per program. He doesn't take enough calls, some hours don't feature any calls. The show sounds scripted, Jerry is clearly just reading stories on a computer screen. It sounds more like a comical news program (i.e. Rachel Maddow) than a genuine TALK radio show.
Michael Savage very smart, but is terribly bitter, caustic, racist, and homophobic. And he keeps soliciting donations on the air. Combine all of the above, and that's just plain bad radio.
Perhaps KDWN could consider local talent at 4pm? Any suggestions?
I don't listen to Neal Boortz, so no comment.
As for Phil Hendrie, whenever I tune in, it's some complicated philosophical discussion and it's boring.
As I suggested below KDWN could consider going after KXNT for Premeire talent because of their ND daytime and DA nightime signal. Coast to Coast began on KDWN and that would bring better ratings for KDWN than Phil Hendrie. KDWN coulld also get Bob Brinker for weekends. Bob has mentioned living here, so he should have the strongest AM signal!
